Just wanted to say I ordered the book by Susan Ashley and after a few pages I went wow! I like her style of writing, thanks for recommending it. It fits my Ashley to a T and I can see with relief that it will explain why our normally good relationship has been trying in the past year or so.
We are going to try the Focus and a good multivitamin for a week and monitor her grades. We will also schedule an appt with her specialist. I want to try to avoid the medication unless the Focus/vitamin therapy isn't enough.
My personal belief is that the more information that you can get to help you deal with ADD, the better the ability to deal with it. If the only effective way to get that information is through therapy, then you want to take it as long as it is working for you.
There are many reasons why a 13 year old girl could get stomach pains, and I suppose that Concerta certainly could be one of them. Have you looked at its side effects? But in any case, this is something that you should have told your doctor and then let that doctor decide what to do. Everybody is different, responds to different doses and medications.
I do hope that Focus works for you. That would be wonderful. But, I have a feeling that if it worked well, that I would have seen at least one post over the last 5 years I have been watching this site that would have said so - and I haven't. So please keep us informed.
Anyway, information is the key. You are obviously interested in getting more info. Keep searching. I've got tons of reference sites if you are interested in more specific information. Best wishes.
