Concerta side effects

Hello, I'm 19 years old and just got diagnosed, as one would say, with ADD/ADHD rather recently. I was given a prescription for Concerta 36mg to be taken daily. This is the third week taking it and I have been noticing some odd side effects. On days when I take it in the morning and don't eat I feel nauseous and generally off, which I was warned about prior so it doesn't worry me as much. However, I have also noticed quite a difference in my mood. I consistently feel more depressed and muted than before. I feel anxious and on the verge of tears quite often. I've gotten slight tingling in my hands and feet, at times. Also, I have been taking birth control (Yasmin/Ocella) for over a year and have never had a problem with irregularity. However, now I'm bleeding a week before I'm supposed to and have also been having painful cramps, which is why I went on the birth control in the first place.

I've contemplating switching or going off of them for a while but the pros of being able to focus and concentrate have eased my life, especially in my school work. I'm a sophomore in college, at a pretty selective school. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed side effects of this same nature and degree. Any advice would really be appreciated.

Hi !x and im 17  i was diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago i been on 3 diffrent medication for my illness  and none of them work i've had odd side effects after all of them such as ( seeing things talking to people when no one was i told my mother that someone was standing by her but it was nothing other than me thinking it  there i been told i not who i am when im taking the medication i try to learn to control my sistuation without the medication but i seem to get angry for no reason i've asked to be put in a mental insitute because i was scared who i was becoming family friends said i always been naughty since i was 9 months old i hurt alot of people since i was growing up i got chucked out of school i always failed my work  when i first starting taking concerta 5 years ago i for 2 weeks i was bard , sickness, quiet , sleeping all the time then i stopped taking them for bouh month or so i was finally being myself then i could feel the agryness coming back so i flip out :( i recently visit family and children centre bouh month ago told him whats going in behind closed door he game higher dose of medication i forgot what the neame is i bursted in to tears and told him i dont want what i got get rid of it and i said im a monster and a freek he told me it wasnt my fault what was happening with me but the medication im on now is doing great but it changed my personality instead of being agry and moody instead ..x

My son went from ritalin to 38mg concertra because he hated being called out of class to take his med...being name called from other pupils etc.

The side effects on my son from this pill are so personality changing, it's just not him anymore!
I stopped giving them him last week. School have been informed..of course they are not happy about it..they decided this year to take his full time support from him and his work as gone downhill since and behaviour. His concentration is poor and he can't keep on task..his grades and report have gone way down since they removed his support.
these are just a few of the changes in my son since taking concertra.

He can't sleep during the night and has missed school because of lack of sleep...while on this med.
He needs to get in my bed most nights because of hearing and seeing things that aren't there. He as terrible nightmares.

He is scared of his own shadow, he panics and is anxious..when viistors come to our home he runs to his room and won't come out.
He won't leave the house alone without me, not even to the corner shop,  he cries alot because he is scared and angry because he wants to meet up with friends, but fears the outside world that he will be attacked. His confidence is 0%. His torretts are alot worse now..rapid eye movements and throat clearing..and his symtoms of OCD are worse..his mood swings are terrible..

He's been off them a week now and he is so relieved.. though his fears and sleep pattern is still terrible at the moment he still won't go out alone. His next appointment isn't until 8th oct and that is because i've pushed to move it forward.

I just hope the damage I feel this med has done is reversable for my son. I've been telling my sons psy for months about these changes in him and she hasn't once mentioned it could be the meds..it's only coming on the net myself and reading what other people have been saying about these pills..
All I can say to you is go back and see your doctor.
For my son these side effects are just not worth it...
