Difficulty falling asleep on med - what to do?

Hello everyone.  I just started Vyvanse ADD medicine yesterday at the beginning 30MG dose, and last night I was lying in bed for hours and couldn't fall asleep until some time after 2AM because the stimulation hadn't worn off.  I had taken the med at 9:30AM yesterday.  It's very frustrating because I normally fall asleep so well.

Anyone else have this problem on meds?  What did you do about it?  The medicine is so incredibly helpful so I don't want to give up on it.

Maybe a formula that isn't as long acting?  Take earlier in the morning (though I want to sleep in later)?  Add a sleeping pill into the mix (though I prefer not to have more medicines)?

Any help very appreciated.

Thank you for the help.

I know it's ADD.  My teachers noticed things, I've had lots of testing from psychologists and psychiatrists when I was very young, it runs in my family, and it was again confirmed recently through neuropsychological $3,000.00 testing.

I noticed it was incredibly helpful the first day with many things I observed, including with my fatigue problem.  I don't know how much of it may have been placebo affect.  My psychologist just told me I should notice things pretty quickly, too.  I put in my other thread the benefits and negative things I noticed.

I'll be going away soon on a vacation/retreat, so I think I go with both of your suggestions -- get a lower dose with a shorter formula and a sleeping pill for back-up just in case.  Hopefully I'll lose this side-effect with time.  I did try taking it earlier in the morning the next day but it ended up waking me up way too early and left me unable to get to bed until really late, again.

How do you know if it is incredibly helpful if you have only taken it for one day? Obviously it is having an adverse effect. Are you sure you have ADD?

I would definitely talk to your doctor before adding any other things to the mix.
I would guess that taking your med at 7 in the morning would mean it would wear off sooner and you could get to sleep sooner.  It apparently takes about a week for your body to settle into a routine.
There is a 20mg capsule that should be available to you If taking the dose sooner does not help.
Hope this helps, you can get a lot of good information by using a good search engine.
