HELP ME!! Please!

My name is Arianna,
Can someone help me? Please!?  I honestly think I have ADD or ADHD of some sort.. I can' tfocus in class, or anything uninteresting..  I do hand around a lot but im also always bouncing my leg or playing with something.  I can't stay focused on one thing.. unless its like.. a video game or something.. then I won't stop till I get it right.  I don't know but my parents say "no one wants to stay focused on something they don't like you dont have it" because my brother had it and they say it was different.. but isn't it different for everyone?

Does anyone have a survey or something I could do to show them?  Or reccomend me to something... or is it just normal 15 year old behavior?

You really need to have your parents take you to a psychiatrist for a diagnosis. If it's bugging you enough that you sounght help here, you just may have a problem. However, you can't try to diagnose yourself because what happens if you need medication or therapy? Leave that to the doctor, tell your folks what's going on and that it's really bothering you and you would like to see a doctor. They will probably be proud of you for noticing it on your own and coming to them. If you have ADD they probably have noticed some symptoms as well.
Good Luck!!

i have ADHD, i'm 13 and i expirience many of the smae symptoms as you. i don't know how you can get your parents to look into it, mention omsething to your doctor or something, but if you're diagnosed there are some meds that can really help, and make your life easier

(even in your boringest subject)

o ya one more thing: before i was diagnosed or anything, i found it helpful to bring something like a stress ball or a squishy ball to school and keep my hands buisy with that, even if one hand was writing. i fond it much easier to concintrate that way.

Dear Avianna,
There is another book called Healing ADD by Dr. Daniel Amen. He describes six different types of ADD/ADHD. You can find excerpts online by googling together the words Amen six types ADHD. The web site for "Attend" by Vaxa also has these six types listed. Your parents, and yourself, might be interested in alternative approaches such as bio-feedback, Emotional Release Therapy (Google Weston ERT) and supplements such as tyrosine, theanine, and 5htp. God bless.

Thanks guys, you helped a lot, and I'll definetly check into the books, I like to read anyway. Hopefully it actually gets me hooked fast, I tend to put them down if they don't. (and never pick them back up).  As for consulting my doctor, my parents just will NOT accept it.. so thats kind of out of the question.  As for my guidance counselor at school.. well.. I tend to dress in the darker style, so they really don't like me.

Don't really know why, its not like I'm a trouble maker or anything, granted, I don't do that well in school, but I do try.

So anyway, thanks a billion guys. =]

Get your parents to schedule an ADD/ADHD consult with your doctor.  They will have the forms needed to fill out that you and your parents can discuss with the doctor.

Don't try to self-evaluate.  You get yourself into trouble that way.
