My son is 17 has very high predicted grades and will go to medical school in the next year.
He was sever ADHD, to the point where he would run into walls, swear at teachers, kick through glass windows/lacera`ting his foot. Was tested age 8 high IQ 150+
He was reading well age 4 but could not walk in a straight line, diagnosed with mild motor impairment as well. Had completely no social skills. Couldnt play on a team, coaches screaming at him!!
We did it without medication, with behaviour modification + by giving him absolutely everything weve got.
He is not interested in drink and drugs, though he does drink beer. He is not agressive is very sociable. He is totaly disorganised/chaotic. Leaves a trail after him.
I said to my husband "who is going to pick up after him when he is a doctor" + my husband said 'the nurses" so who knows? He made it this far.
His cousin who took medication, never learnt to control himself. THAT IS A FACT.

I tend to keep moving off mydesk at work like every 10 mins also.....
My Friend has ADD and he is 45 now and he has a n excellent job, he is ok gets impulsive at times and dis-organised but sweet and he knows how to manage himself.
Hope that helps,

I turned out semi-okay, my mom suspected I had something wrong with me when I was younger but the doctors wouldn't really listen (and she was insistent that I was NOT to be put on medication). We just went about our normal life.....
My mom occasionally got phone calls and letters from the teachers that I was finishing my work early or getting jittery in my seat and distracting the other students. My mom just laughed and told them to give me more/harder work to finish. Starting in late elementary my grades started slipping, I had all A's until 5th grade when I got my first B. Sixth grade brought my first C, 7th my first D, and 8th my first F. My parents got fed up and sat on me to do my homework and study....I ended up with grades all over the board in high school (a few A/Bs, mostly C's, a few D/Fs).
Same thing in college, I made it through my first semester okay, after that I flunked the 2nd one. Wound up at 4 different colleges, took 7 years and I never finished my degree.
I'm now 33 and was diagnosed with ADD 6 months ago. I should add that 8 years ago I was diagnosed with a disorder on the Bipolar spectrum, and I also have a higher than average IQ. Those 3 things combined to make a mess out of my educational experience....so PLEASE don't take my experience as that of every child with ADD. At the time the doctors told my mom that my higher IQ would cause me to finish work early, learn things faster, and get bored easier than others.....that in itself would have caused symptoms VERY similar to ADD.
Sorry for the long post! :)
