Age old question...How long does it last?

Here I Go!  Im "outting myself" :)   On day 7 of w/d from hydrocodone.  I made some mistakes initially when stopping,.  I assumed that I should stop everything at once.  Not a good idea.  I have been treated for severe uncontrolled high blood pressure for years, and stopped those meds too.According to my Doctor, those meds have a nasty rebound effect. I had no idea,  I just attributed my lolusy feeling to detoxing.  He spent some time educating me yesterday on the importance of staying on BP meds, and I do feel better today.  I keep telling myself the worst part is over.... am I being realistic?  I want to "feel" what the meds have been hiding for years.  I need to know what is real/chronic pain, and what is w/d pain.  Glad I found this forum.  Happy to know i'm not alone :)

7 days that is awesome!!! The worst is over. Now, you need to build up your receptors again. Go to Whole Foods and talk with the vitamin specialist.

I am taking BComplex, B12, a multi vitamin and Gingko Biloba. ALso, for sleep UGH!!! not much works but you can try melatonin over the counter...

Good Luck

Hi..you're welcome!   Yes,every hour is HUGE for all of us!

It's great you have supporters at your side. Who knows?  You may be just fine after the first week. Some folks are because they're so happy to be pill free and rid of the burden. Try not to look too far ahead right now, though.  Just be good to yourself and I
can tell you'll be fine!  Keep posting though!

Thanks for your comment Vicki. Every hour seems like a huge milestone to me.  The cravings come and go, but i'm keeping busy.  I m very fortunate to have a very small core group of supporters who will be by my side during my aftrcare, and to help with the mental withdrawl.  As I understand, it can be as intense, and more emotional than the physical w/d., but I am determined.

Congrats on your 3 weeks!!

Hi and welcome to the forum. There's much support here!

Yes, you ARE being realistic. The worst part should be over now. Also, you may find that the pain is not so bad!
You are not alone at all. We are all in some stage of recovery (for me it's 3 plus weeks).  Be sure you have a plan for aftercare.  The mental withdrawal can be tough and you'll need support for that.

Keep posting and good luck!
