Alprazolam withdrawal

Is it ok to stop (cold turkey) 0.5mg alprazolam (I have been using for 10 years) and use zolpidem 5mg ?  My doctor (psychiatric) never told me to withdraw slowly and I wonder if it might be dangerous to do it this way? This is my secong night and it has been hard however my concern is the method this doctor is using.

I agree with Eagle.  I have always read that you should NEVER stop any form of benzos cold turkey, you MUST taper.  If you have indeed been using them for 10 years, you should definately taper.  I applaud you for your desire to quit after so long.  I wish you the best of luck with it, and keep posting, it helps more than you realize.
