Regardless of those who do the 12 steps, this book will help them find the reason they "self" medicate. I do it for the concentration and relief of anxiety and depression. Maybe, if I get these under control, then I'll have less triggers to use.
I agree, the treatment regimen seems to be well thought out, but maybe unpractical for most. He did mention that it could be done slower, but that it would slow the cure as well. I think you'd have to pick and choose which docs to see dependant on your symptoms after you get clean.
This is from the guy who started Passages right? I did read it. And I really enjoyed the read. I thought there was a ton of useful information and I also felt that everything he said made perfect sense.. In a way it helped me a lot to think about addiction in a different way. I do feel that there are underlying issues to addiction that can be physical, mental or both. The con I have with it is that for me it is close to impossible to follow the regimen or 'treatment plan' to the letter. I barely have time to see the dentist twice a year, let alone a whole team of specialists three or four times a week.. I do almost 100% believe in the approach though, I just dont think its practical for many people... myself included... but if I could snap my fingers, I would absolutely try this approach.. what did you think about the treatment regimen?
It's a very interesting book, especially for those who just can't get their arms around the 12 steps program.
I'm thinking of picking it up...I have their website up but haven't had a chance to read it yet.
