Not sure if this will work, I've been a member for all of 30 minutes and I am not one to blog or contribute to any forums really. That said, I have a sizable about of personal information on the subject (addiction in general and possible diphenhydramine dependancy). I am off the extreme abuse ilk both in terms of dose size and duration of chronic abuse, 21×50mg pills every night at exactly the same time for a grand total of 3 and a half years. I would very much like to elaborate on how I got here as well as to describe (to the best of my ability) what I have just recently stayed to experience. I believe I have much to offer given I have yet to read another post from someone imbibing at the levels I have been for as long as I have been. My intention is NOT to brag about the 1000mg of benadryl I've been consuming nightly; I have zero incentive to embellish as well. like an amateur addict, I fell prey to taking it for face value that diphenhydramine  (at any amount) was not habit forming. I should also state at the onset that, in addition to the diphenhydramine, I have been taking between 8 and 12Mg of suboxone for the "healthy" amount of oxycodon I'd been taking prior to all of this. I am not dead, and believe it or not, I don't really care, I a hold a full time job and make it to the gym 6 days a week. in the eyes of my family, friends and, yes, recovery team I am a model of success (no one knows about the benadryl I take on top of the suboxone, they do know about the suboxone). My fear, however, is that my "house of cards" is about to fall as I have started to have medical compassionate that I honestly and naively did not associate with the benadryl, in part, because of how long it has taken for the problems to surface. I am, however, going to stop here only because, as I mentioned at the onset, I don't really know if this post will actually make it to the eyes of the audience I aim to reach. so, I will wait to see what, if any, interest I've peaked with my little teaser here... If there is some, and if doling out the extended version of my stupid story will help someone, I am more than happy to do so. TBC....

Yes you can become addicted, I know because I am! If I don't take my 250-400 mg every 6 hours I become nauseated, start to sweat, and become drowsy, about 10-15 min after I pop my dosage I take I feel much better, it's just as bad as the oxycodone addiction I had a couple of years ago!

They cut ''China White Heroin.'' with the stuff. A huge ratio too since Heroin can be ''Cut.'' so much as compared to other drugs. Nowadays people cut theyre Cocaine with things to ''Enhance.'' the high they get. Heroin is cut to lower it's potency. Because the drug is derived from natural sources it's potency & concentration levels are out of the roof. So I would have to say NO Diphenhydramine is not addictive. Although to some it makes them very ''Drogey.'' so that on top of Heroin is always been a factor in overdose's. Smarter drug dealers who know they have a ''Good Product.'' don't want the reputation as the '''Grim Reaper Of Heroin.'' so they use other mixtures of cut that are more natural & can stretch the drug further are, ''Baby Milk Sugar Laxitive.'' Vitamin- b12 Or with  Benzodianzepines ''Benzos.'' that are white such as 2mg Xanax bars,Clonapin Ativan, Lorazapam e.t.c. witch also is a cut that helps the grim reaper with his task of overdose & death. Benzos are a very powerfull Anti-anxiety medicine that comes in different names shapes & sizes but is the main ingrediant in all. Although Benzos are extremly powerfull & can cause blackouts & regular stints of short term memory loss. Not even Xanax the most powerfull Xanax can kill anyone. Unless they ate hundereds over a period of 12 hours but that would be impossible because long before you reach 100 a passout/blackout is gaurenteed. But when Benzos are mixed with alcohol & also Opiates such as Heroin then they can become a VERY FATAL COCKTAIL. No BENADRYL IS NOT ADDICTIVE...

I have hepatitis C and can not currently afford to see a doctor for it.  I have terrible insomnia and take 75 mg of diphenhydramine HCL(Benadryl) each night to help me sleep. Is this a safe medication to take?

Tolerance would be an understatement. Im not proud of it, but now I take up to 2000mg/day ....(which equals to 80 x25 mg benadryl pills). I can work, I do sports, and NO ONE knows that I take pills...the tolerance can be extreme with this ****.

When I try to stop I quickly become EXTREMELY  depressed (diphenhydramine was the precursor of prozac).  Hell trust me,  this stuff is a chemical evil. That is pure ********, but I still cant stop doing it by myself, and thats truly scary. This is the most depressant/painful drug addiction ever.

You can not become addicted to diphenhydramine. You can become dependant on it. It is the generic name for benadryl. I used to take it all the time and now it doesn't work on me anymore. The only symptom you will get from stopping it is sleep problems and insomnia.
