Hello Everyone..We have a DR appt with her Cancer Dr today..BOY am I going to have a talk with him. I got such GREAT info here and I want to find out more on what she can take to make her hungry!!
She is sick of the protein drinks and shakes and the mac-n-cheese and such. ALL of you gave us SO many Tips on how to spice that up.
She has had a Tube at one time and refuses to have another one.
Just like what you had said there weaver..She does eat a lot of Yogurt with whip cream. I myself told her she is getting to much sugar and not enough
fruits & veg. SO these tips helped me think.
Right now she eats very little at a time because she says she get full to quick and she is at the point she does not want to eat.
I truly what to THANK Each and everyone of you for helping out..Your Love on here just made my Mom snapped out of it and it gave her SO much more Hope and Strength to continue forward..
See she has a Disease I would not turn my back on..Just like I have one and she would not turn her back on me...lol
AND ALL OF YOU DID THE SAME...THANK YOU From the Bottom of my HEART!!
Leave it to weaver to get me teared up this morning. Beautifully written!!!! Hope you and your mom are doing ok this morning. Praying for you both!!!!
Wow !! Great words Weaver . How eloquent ! How are you today Vic and Elsie ?
Elsie, you give that awesome daughters of yours a long heartfelt hug just for me. You have a special person there, one of the finest I've know. I'm not just saying that, I would keep my mouth shut otherwise. Don't forget, long and heart felt hug, not one of those pat on the back kind. The fruit of your life is beautiful and ripe, congratulations, nothing is more amazing than a family who loves you back. You guys take care of eachother, no matter how hard it is, you have eachother.
I love your attitude. The last thing I remember my dying grandmother say was, "I can't wait to get out of here and go dancing." She never walked again or left the hospital, but I get to remember her positive nature. I bet she dances every day in heaven. I'm tearing up, so don't be stubborn and keep the faith. You guys will get through this together.
Caught this late Vic, but wanted to share. My dad was in a coma for a few months, then his whole skull was and face were wired back together. He was on iv for the coma, then his jaw as wired shut for 6 months. He hit a deer going 90 on a motorcycle without a helmet. Anyway, he got sick of amino drinks, smoothies, and watery potatoes. He couldn't open his mouth, so a straw was his mouth. We liquefied everything with a little extra spice. T-bone steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, we made liquid meals, his attitude improved a lot. It looked and sounded gross to me, but I could chew. We also took him in the sun a lot to eat, dappled sun, his meds made him light sensitive. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. You need to stay with here, pills would take you away, so try to remember how she needs the real you right now. My self-centered nature tries to take over, that's when I start asking loved ones how things are better now. They can remind me quick. Many prayers your way, God's will be done, not mine.
I hope that helps, I will continue to pray, have you thought about a NG tube as a last resort
