Understand Lizzie...we used to sing a song in church called "Friend will you be ready when Jesus comes?" I don't want to go yet but I to am ready through my faith..I do believe the day is coming...30 years ago I thought it could be any minute and of course it could be..and I live my life as though it will be...but I also don't worry about it. And no one knows, but the father, when that will be.

In my few years I have read and heard about the end of the world. In 1938 ( I think that was the year) Orson Welles came out with "The War of The Worlds." In the form of a news broadcast. That was the first time I heard that the world as we knew it, was coming to an end. I hid under the kitchen table until my brother convinced me that it was just a radio program. Since then I have heard about the end of the world countless times. When that time comes I am sure we will never know what hit us. I remember a joke where the teacher said the world would come to an end in about two billion years. One of the students became very upset. The teacher told the student to quit worrying because the no one in the class would live for two billion years. Suddenly the student gave a sigh of relief and said,"Two billion years? Thank God! I thought you said two million!"
am i ready? haha...dont want to go just yet.
am i prepared through my faith? very much so :)
Amen, Lizzie-Lou. The point there..."will you be ready"?
i know a lot about this...the simple truth though is that it doesn't matter if it's all going to end on December 21, 2012. there are people in this forum who may not even live that long. in the unlikely event that the world does come to an end on that date, then i've really enjoyed the ride and i guess it would be as good of a time as any because i don't think i will every be 'ready' to die....living is just too great. it's amazing that i can say that since i am such a depressive person...but it's true for me...living really is great. maybe what comes after death will be even greater...we just don't know. either way, don't worry about the end...just enjoy the time you have right now. you don't get it back once it's gone.
i think that anyone who's christian would certainly be inclined to believe that the end could be close...there has been a huge surge in volcanic activity and earthquakes...floods...huge storms...all the signs of the end are just starting to appear. but whether you're christian, jew, muslim, athiest or anything else...the only thing that matters to anyone is living the best life you can live while you have the opportunity to live it. be as happy as you can be and try to share that happiness as much as you can. thats what i think, anyway. then when the end comes, you can face it having lived a full life, at the very least.
I remember back in the early 70's when people thought the world was coming to an end too...they would sell everything and sit and wait.....There is only one person who knows when the end is coming. This 2012 thing is a great get rich quick scam for lots of people......
the bible states that no one will know the end of time except God...not the angels...not his son...only God, our father.
As long as it doesn't happen in Sept 2012. A friend of mine and I have plans to meet in Charlotte, NC for a couple of beers in Sept 2012 as we will both be eligeable to retire on that date. Plus we've worked for the same company for years and communicated via a private work network for many of those years and never met.. we've had this planned for nearly 10 years ;-) I even have it on my calendar on my computer.
