No ChiChi Lover I am definately NOT doctor shopping, I can barely afford one doctor, much less more than one. AS I STATED IN MY INITIAL POST, I have only used one pharmacy in the past 20 years, and all the employees there know me. Which made me curious as to why they asked me for my social security number; something that they have never done in the past.
Lonewolf, I found out what you were talking about today. I had my follow-up with the nephrologist this afternoon, and he is 2 hours away from my home. My blood pressure was up pretty high and he changed my meds and wanted me to get it filled ASAP. I stopped at the wal-mart next door to the doctor's office and they had a large sign posted that stated our state had passed a new monitoring law that states when filling scripts for controlled substances you have to provide a valid driver's license or photo id when dropping off the script and when picking up.
Are you doctor shopping?
36 states have or are passing laws so that all pharmacy have access to each other and what a patient is taking to check for doctor shopping. So if you go to one doctor for a script and then another it will all be in the data base/computer at each pharmacy and each doctor's office so that all the pharmacy and doctor's in your state can pull up your information.
if you aren't doctor shopping or forging scripts or doing anything wrong then nothing to worry about. They are probably just adding more information and updating their systems.
In Ontario, Canada we have to sign for every prescription we get, even if it isn't a narcotic. Legitimate clients often have to pay for the "criminal activities" of those who do forge prescriptions. I've been dealing with the same pharmacy for years too but the laws around narcotics have become a lot more strict. At the same time, if a dr writes a prescription, the pharmacy often doesn't question it.
all because of the DEA, doctors who abuse their priveleges, and those who sell these things on the street.

hey lady, no need to worry, but all pharmacies will soon do this. i am from michigan and about 5 years ago a state law was passed that you had to give social number for any narcotics. avisg is right all states are starting it to help slow down people from doctor shopping and same with pharmacy shopping. hope that helps answer the question

Doesn't it suck to be where we are? Even though I haven't done anything to worry, because of my past with the narcotics, I think everything has a hidden meaning.
I have never heard of that?? Do you have private insurance? Maybe it is a new policy?
I would have also felt nervous , but for more reasons then you...I didn't use the same pharmacy's...SO that is a good thing...I had an abcess once, and I used every narcotic , because nothing helped., that **** hurt bad...Until i ended up lossing the tooth....I really think that if there was something wrong, then they would have told you right then...Try not to worry!!!

Oh no I haven't forged any scripts or anything like that. I guess I am concerned that they may feel I am doctor shopping. With this blood pressure/kidney problem, I have been referred to several different doctors, but as for dentists, I use the same one I have used since high school. I guess it made me worry because I the first script I filled this morning was from the doctor who was treating me in the hospital, but this afternoon the script was called in by my regular dentist. I think the devil is trying to make me worry. Also, I have been off my prozac for about 2 weeks now.
Do you have anything to be nervous about like forged scripts or any thing like that .If you have not then you have nothing to worry about. Your state might be requiring it when receiving controlled substance. We have a database in SC this way they can keep track it cuts down on doctor shopping ALOT.
