IBKleen explains it for me, though I never went on to heroin, I did Cocaine several times and in the 60's and 70's pot and LSD were my DOCs then, with pills coming in the 80's and late 90's...stopped for a while and returned a few years ago...
Jim
i agree that most people are addicted to pain pills on here which is crazyy...i think that people taking pain pills eventually do heroin because its cheaper....in my experience at first i was not presrcibed them my hubby was and i started taking his until and when we would run out we would have to go to a dealer...who are your friends who don't take their prescriptions instead sell them for $5 a piece or friends of friends ....word spreads quick when you are getting $5 a pill on a bottle 120 ...$600 profit minus the $10 copay they paid.....so as you can see this can get very expensive....and from experience i've spent thousands in a week (who knows where the $ came from,my hard working hubby) and have seen many times people turn to heroin cuz its a little cheaper...and from experience Doctors get incentives from drug co.s to push there meds...so everyone wins in the end everyone that is except THE USER!!!!!
Liver cancer and liver failure, is fast becoming the number one medical issue these days too cause all the drugs are killing people, slowly but surely. Docs write the scripts, people get addicted, cannot get off ofem and in the end the docs get more business the pharmaceutical companies get richer and its all passed to the next generation. Round and round it goes.
It's the "RX Generation".
When I began using drugs it was the "Psychedelic Age". From there heroin became pretty popular and then onto the "Cocaine Explosion".
In five years there will be some new drug on the market.
Addicts will remain addicts, and will continue to look for that "feel good". Only the drug will change.
From my experience, most I.V. heroin addicts and crack/coke addicts don't have computer access.
They are VERY expensive habits. I was spending about $300 dollars a day at some points. You tend to go broke very quickly doing that, and things like computers... cars... eating...a home... tend to fall by the wayside quickly.
I don't know Lee.....I hear a lot of people say that they see and know a lot of people who take pills recreationally I have yet to come across these people. I know there are dealers out there, but I have yet to meet one. I just see it....or hear anyone talk about it and I know a lot of people from a previous employment.....now I have seen the regular pot and coke dealers, but never pills. Crappola......even in Mexico opiates are not easy to get.......and EXTREMELY expensive.......
I do see a huge difference in how doctors are handing them out. I remember when I was a teenager you were lucky to get a tylenol #3 for a root canal, but now OXY for a herniated disc? come on. It has to be the Pharma's and incentives to doctors....as they love to throw the crumbs...feed your addiction and rip you off them...cruel and sadistic on their part, as they know its not fatal.
There are two types of people when it comes to taking opiates......ones who can, and ones who can't........the ones who can get the energy, and the feelings you described and the ones who can't ......hate the way they make them feel, and won't take them.......
Sorry, Lee.....I dont' know if I made any sense......my feudal attempt to answer your post cause it sits unanswered may have just backfired.......i am outta it!!!
good post....gives one something to think about.......
luv,
nauty..............
