Rodney Atkins "If you're going through hell"
Here's the lyrics:
Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do
You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Use the needle of your compass
To sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie
In a bottle of Jim Beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth
If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
Well I been deep down in that darkness
I been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different demons
Breathing fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled
I'd fall right into the trap that they were laying, yeah
But the good news
Is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been dragginig for so long
You're on your knees
You maight as well be praying
Guess what I'm saying
If your going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
Yeah, If you're going through hell
Keep on moving, face that fire
Walk right through it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
Yeah, If you're going through hell
Keep on moving, face that fire
Walk right through it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
Yeah, you might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

A Little Bit Stronger Lyrics
Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain
But I brushed my teeth anyway
I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face
I got a little bit stronger
Riding in the car to work and I'm trying to ignore the hurt
So I turned on the radio, stupid song made me think of you
I listened to it for minute but I changed it
I'm getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger
And I'm done hoping that we could work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking that you could ever change
I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger
Doesn't happen overnight but you turn around
And a month's gone by and you realize you haven't cried
I'm not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer
I'm busy getting stronger
And I'm done hoping that we can work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking, that you could ever change
I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger
Getting along without you, baby
I'm better off without you, baby
How does it feel without me, baby?
I'm getting stronger without you, baby
And I'm done hoping we could work it out
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I'm done thinking that you could ever change
I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger
Just a little bit stronger
A little bit, a little bit, a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger

"Who You'd Be Today"
Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
I feel you everywhere I go.
I see your smile, I see your face,
I hear you laughin' in the rain.
I still can't believe you're gone.
It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who'd you be today?
Would you see the world? Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family,
I wonder what would you name your babies?
Some days the sky's so blue,
I feel like I can talk to you,
An' I know it might sound crazy.
It ain't fair: you died too young,
Like the story that had just begun,
But death tore the pages all away.
God knows how I miss you,
All the hell that I've been through,
Just knowin' no-one could take your place.
An' sometimes I wonder,
Who you'd be today?
Today, today, today.
Today, today, today.
[Instrumental Break]
Sunny days seem to hurt the most.
I wear the pain like a heavy coat.
The only thing that gives me hope,
Is I know I'll see you again some day.
Some day, some day, some day.
Sorry Connie. Artist Vh1 One hit wonder Charlene, song, Never Been To Me.
It's better to hear; it's mostly sung but some is spoken.
I heard this as a child, with no clue of any meaning, but have loved it ever since.
Can you share the song title and artist please?
Love this song. It has so many interpretations as well.
Hey lady, you, lady, cursin' at your life
You're a discontented mother and a regimented wife
I've no doubt you dream about the things you never do
But I wish someone had a talk to me like I wanna talk to you
Ooh I've been to Georgia and California, oh, anywhere I could run
Took the hand of a preacherman and we made love in the sun
But I ran out of places and friendly faces because I had to be free
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me
Please lady, please, lady, don't just walk away
'Cause I have this need to tell you why I'm all alone today
I can see so much of me still living in your eyes
Won't you share a part of a weary heart that has lived a million lies
Oh I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece
Where I sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things
That a woman ain't s'posed to see
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me
Hey, you know what paradise is? It's a lie
A fantasy we create about people and places as we'd like them to be
But you know what truth is?
It's that little baby you're holding, and it's that man you fought with this morning
The same one you're going to make love with tonight. That's truth, that's love
Sometimes I've been to cryin' for unborn children
That might have made me complete
But I, I took the sweet life and never knew I'd be bitter from the sweet
I spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that cost too much to be free
Hey lady, I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me
I've been to paradise - never been to me
(I've been to Georgia and California, and anywhere I could run)
I've been to paradise - never been to me
(I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece
While I sipped champagne on a yacht)
I've been to paradise - never been to me
I am loving DJ SCREW, FAT PAT, and SPM lately
Dust in the Wind for awhile but things have changed..
For a long time mine was Running On Empty, Jackson Browne.
There is another song that means a great deal to me it is Old Man by Neil Young. Actually I used it in my fathers eulogy. You see my Dad didn't want me to become a Firefighter as he was. He wanted me to continue my education and do great things with my life. He knew the pains and worry it caused all that loved him and didn't want that for me. Of course being the "Tenacious" one that I am (and IBK you know what I mean) I became a Firefighter. Don't get me wrong he was very proud of me. So now I am fulfilling his wish (as promised)I am going for my PhD in engineering. So here are the lyrics.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.
Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.
Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.
I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
R.I.P Dad we all love you and are "Taking care of business"
There is one song by Christine Lavin that really got to me, it was Firehouse and it was dedicated to my brother firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.
I've lived in this neighborhood
for twenty-seven years
I know where to get good bagels
and exotic beers
the favorite sidewalk cafes
where locals like to eat
but I never paid attention to
the firehouse on this street
On one side is a parking lot
the other side a laundromat
across the street's a small boutique
where you could find an antique hat
on the corner an all-night diner
and discount drug store
where life goes on but not quite like
the way it did before
At first there was a slender thread
of optimistic hope
the digging went on round the clock
no one slept, but somehow coped
the photos of the missing men
were posted on the glass
of the red door where
we said a prayer
whenever we walked past
The wind shifted to the north
smoke filled our lungs
stung our eyes, burned our throats
left a bitter taste upon our tongues
we drank more than we should have
before we went to bed
everyone I know had nightmares
filled with helpless dread
Day blurred into night then day
then night then day again
'missing' was the buzzword
too hard to think this was the end
for young men charging up the stairs
as hell came rolling down
though logic wasn't on our side
we thought they'd all be found
'Cause still there was this slender thread
of optimistic hope
the digging went on round the clock
no one slept, but somehow coped
the photos of the missing men
were posted on the glass
of the red door where
we said a prayer
whenever we walked past
Neighbors lit votive candles
laid flowers at that door
baked casseroles and homemade breads
but wished they could do more
the guys inside were grateful
but preferred to grieve alone
trained to save the lives of others
they could not save their own
Maybe next year the pain
won't be as sharp
as it is today
though it will never
completely go away
and we will talk in terms of
'before' and 'after' the attack
and wish more than anything
we could bring those brave men back
Reality sliced cleanly through
that slender thread of hope
the digging went on and on
some snapped
most of us still cope
the photos of the missing men
are missing from the glass
of the red door where
we say a prayer
whenever we walk past
GOD Bless all of you my fine brothers
I had to add avenged sevenfold- seize the day. I absolutely love that song
Pink- try, glitter, just give me a reason really n e thing pink

Hello My Name Is
Verse 1:
Hello, my name is regret
I'm pretty sure we have met
Every single day of your life
I'm the whisper inside
That won't let you forget
Hello, my name is defeat
I know you recognize me
Just when you think you can win
I'll drag you right back down again
'Til you've lost all belief
These are the voices, these are the lies
And I have believed them, for the very last time
Chorus:
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I've been saved, I've been changed, and I have been set free
"Amazing Grace" is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
Verse 2:
I am no longer defined
By all the wreckage behind
The one who makes all things new
Has proven it's true
Just take a look at my life
Chorus:
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I've been saved, I've been changed, and I have been set free
"Amazing Grace" is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
Bridge:
What love the Father has lavished upon us
That we should be called His children
I am a child of the one true King
What love the Father has lavished upon us
That we should be called His children
Chorus:
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I've been saved, I've been changed, and I have been set free
"Amazing Grace" is the song I sing
Hello, my name is child of the one true King
I am a child of the one true King
"YOU WERE MINE" by Dixie Chicks... If you've ever heard it then u know what I mean...Described my life with my x husband to a T....
I just wanted to post the lyrics to 'Weak and Powerless' by A Perfect Circle. So good and fitting.
Tilling my own grave to keep me level
Jam another dragon down the hole
Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren
One that pushes me along and leaves me so
Desperate and ravenous
I'm so weak and powerless over you
Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom
Desperate and ravenous
So weak and powerless over you
Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
He promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever, just as long as I don't feel so
Desperate and ravenous
I'm so weak and powerless over you
Desperate and ravenous
So weak and powerless over you
Great minds think alike Dig cause 'Hurt' was one of my songs. I listened to that and the 'Thirteenth Step' album by A Perfect Circle over and over during detox. It's all about addiction and reminded me why I was doing this. I never wanted to be there again.
The song that made me think long and hard about my life and put me on my knees, it not a uplifting track, but it made me realise I didn't want to be in the position I was in at this guys age, (at the time)! It's one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard!
Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt'
