Hi coffeegirl! Yes you need to get it over with. No, don't take too much of the other stuff! It's ok to take it in moderate amounts JUST as needed, but you don't want to have another addiction to deal with, and all 3 of those are habit forming! Just be very careful.
I would taper as much as you can, and then just stop. Hydro can be stopped cold turkey. You will feel bad, but it won't kill you.
Let me know if you need anything!

Oh Lord-now I am really scared. I posted recently about wanting to taper off hyro and was considering Tram b/c I don't have a good suppy of hydos to taper with and cannot be off work more than 3-4 days. I have tapered some already and feel like hell. I DO have a supply of Ativan, Lunesta and Ambien. Should I just stay zonked (if it works) on those for a few days and just get this the hell OVER WITH? Please advise
You rang??? No seriously! Hi there! Ok....300mg tramadol is the extended release version. There is no 300mg every "so many" hours. It's a once a day deal. So....having said that, I'll tell you this. I just stopped tramadol, and I have detoxed off of many drugs, and it was by far the worst. You will ultimately decide what you will do about taking it or not. I'm just going to give you the info, so you go into it informed. It is a long acting drug, even in the 50 mg dose. But when you start talking 300mg, extended release, then you are REALLY getting into a bad situation when you try to stop it. My WDs lasted about a week. (the worst part) It contains an opiate-like substance PLUS an antidepressant. It is extremely dangerous, and I would not give it to my worst enemy. Arsenic would be nicer....you get me? It is a mean, mean drug, and if I were you, I would just take the WDs that you are going to have, toss the tramadol and be better in a few days!
Ask me anything you want. I'll be completely honest with you. It's BAD stuff!
Hugs and good luck!

Okay...he gave you 15,300mg pills to take once a day for 15 days? This is to avoid withdrawals? It MAY be okay...I'm going to get someone with tram experience on here
though. I don't mean to go against your doctor at all. I see the picture here. Hang on...

well this is kinda the deal with gods help and my many gaurdian angels i have i am kinda hoping for something to ease the withdrawl, when i said i went cold turkey the first time i stopped using them, also i was,i am confused about this when i quit taking them before i did it cold turkey . i was only taking them as prescribed 18 hours after quiting the nightmare started soon after i was rushed to emerge and quite quickly admitted,i was there for 5 days after the dreaded day three and half of four the storm stopped and i started to bounce back quite quickley,i also had a new born babe to think about that gave me courage forsure, they really didnt give me nothing but seriquil to sleep and dor basic axiety, point is i have never been that sick ever the folks that compare detoxing from oxycontin are nuts for i would easily take the flu in its place. so after many tries at the cold turkey method i i am at wits end its so so much harder this time and i cant understand what is so different than before so i am just hoping and praying that this can get me what i call "{dirty day three{"mabey i am dreamingf but i am so stuck onn that if i can just get by that sick sick day and night i can survive this.
would lowering my dose be better by the way i anly got a fifteen pill scrpt, and i hope to have no reason to get more. as i would aesily be past and over hump day mabey, sorry for babling soo much i really think its great that someone is listening .i am supossed to start tomorrow morn also why do some sights say to use ie .i guess some form of taper but when you start the tramadol should one not want to be free that day from oxy yes no (conflicting information)the internet can be.Are there any forms of holistic herbs roots etc one could try to ease the hebee jeebeies while researching this i really wonder about the folks that make this crap and the folks who approve this for doctors to give outso freely.i can only pray this helps abit i know meds have different effects on the individual but i would just like to hear some positive feedback about it helping folks or is like a real bad choice also is 15 pills ounce a day in the morning to much if after five six days i wouldnt need them are they that addictive does that make any sence to which i ask
Samuel~ Yup...IBK is right. Tramadol IS addictive and also contains an antidepressant. I've never taken this but many of my forum friends have. It's very difficult to get off of. Many doctors don't realize just how addicting this is. Plus 300mgs is a high dose. Are you taking it more than once a day?
Also,it must be tapered to get off of;cannot quit cold. Do some reading up on this. Also,
others with tram experience will post to you...
Good luck~
Vicki
oh no what should i expect seriosly it is harder to get off than oxys any advice
yeah i do agree doctors are quite ignorant peace. and thanks for gettin back so quick
Hi & Welcome,
I have to say that there are doctors that are still ignorant with regards to Tramadol. First, it IS addictive. Second, it is a dangerous drug to come off of and must be tapered, unlike Oxy's, etc. 300 ml a day is a high dose and while it may ease the withdrawal, what will you do when you need to come off of this?
Please do some reading on your own regarding the drug and talk and listen to the members here who have experience with it.
Best of luck to you. Hope you stick around.
