withdrawal / taper

Started a taper yesterday to get off dilaudid I have been taking it orally and have snorted it for the past year
I'm scared  I have ran out of it before  withdrawal is really bad
I have been using 6 to 8 pill a day
I started yesterday after a bad migraine 8 pill a day for three days it the only thing that works for me I can still work when I get a migraine  but when I ran out I had no idea That the withdrawal would be so bad
so my question has anyone out completed. A successful  taper?

AND..PLEASE DO NOT SNORT..I was a long time snorter..Oh! boy the damage it does to the Lungs and the nose and who know what else besides what the drugs do to the brain.
You got great advise from above..There are Many here that did Taper but I think most of us could not do it that way..Maybe if you give them to someone you trust to hand them out. BUT they have to hide them really good and never break down to give you "Just One More" I wish you the best..Someone is always here too!

Ive detoxed off many things over the years and Dilaudid happened to be one of them. Its a nasty drug...very powerful. I tried to go cold turkey but couldn't hang so I switched to a taper. When I finally made that last jump to nothing....the withdrawals were much more bearable. Unfortunately, we cant give specific tapering advice here. Since they are prescribed by a doc, you should tell him/her that you want to stop and would like to be put on a tapering plan. Good luck to you.

A taper can be done, many do it, and others have to go cold turkey from failed attempts. Are you working with a doctor? I got all my opiates on the street and snorted my share, I had to get a doctor to help me after not following my plan. A doctor can give you meds to help with symptoms too. You will have to find a new treatment for those migraines to stay sober.

You aren't snorting, that is great. You are showing you are serious. We can't give taper schedules here, so I hope you find a doc to help you taper. Keep posting for support.
