So it's been 15 days since Hubby last used oxy's - YIPPY!! I'm so proud of him... those of you who rem' me know that he quit last year around this time, but he had a relapse in February... and then I started using this March but I have been clean for 18 days now :-) I just wanted to come on here and say how well we're doing. In a way, the relapse helped, because we learnt a LOT from it (like which friends and family will stick around through thick and thin). I'm a lot more helpful this time around as I try to keep focusing on another day sober, rather than dwell on the negatives. The BIGGEST piece of advice I can give anyone trying to quit or stay sober is: KEEP BUSY. As Hubby put, soberness is boredom... and boredom leads to relapse, so KEEP BUSY!! Get a hobby, join a group, class, whatever and meet new people. We all know that we have to leave our addict friends behind, and for us that meant almost everyone in our lives. We were lucky to have new neighbours our own age move into our building and through them we met other couples. Oddly enough, this is the first time we have had friends that are not single, and it's making a huge difference in our lives. It also helps that one was a coke addict and another was addicted to crack. They don't judge us and are VERY supportive of us. So I guess that's my second biggest piece of advice - find new people that are a positive influence in your life... it makes a world of difference.
peace and love to all...
and rem' that if you're reading this then you're still "6 feet above ground" (our new motto, lol)
ENJOY EACH AND EVERY DAY!!!
