24 hours

I've been with out vicodin for 24 hours. Feeling weak, tired  sick to my stomach, and very anxious. I feel very alone. My family us all on painn meds for chronic pain, and my husband seems to think I can always be strong and never need him, and is not here. My two year old is restless, and I just want to lie down. I hear the booming of my husbands system in his truck, so he is home now. I just don't think he understands howe much I need him. I wish I could take something to help me sleep, though I kno I can't, because I'm pregnant.

Oh, I do have one cup of coffee in the am, dr said it's fine in moderation. I don't drink pop (and when I do it's diet pepsi) so it's ok. If I stop caffine, I get a migraine.... Major trigger there. Lots of water tho. Thank you all. I think today I may be able to enjoy my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter that I am blessed with. I actually enjoyed the feeling of the wind on my face last night. baby steps :)

Thank you both! I was able to get quite a few hours of sleep last night! lots of tossing and turning before I fell asleep, my daughter walking up for a sippy, and her having to sleep with me, I feel way more rested. ( I locked my ms. to the couch. Doesn't do any good if neither if us sleep, and when I can't sleep, I usually keep him up. Anyways, only once had the runs this morning so I'm going to hold out on the meds for now. Just tylenol, prenatal, and my heartburn meds for now. Over been lurking in the pregnancy forum, made a few comments, but I guess I'm still scared about losing the baby I guess. I'm sure being on day 3 that the danger is diminishing, but even last night, my breasts were not hurting almost at all, and it scared me. The puking us gone, and that is all I have left to kno that the hormones are still multiplying. Soreness is back thank god. I kno this would be better posted there yet I'm just not quite there. Will continue to go there and try to help other mommy to be's!

I'm serious about the tylenol PM and unisom - many of our ladies on the Pregnancy 18-34 have used it to combat the "hormone insomnias" that come later in pregnancy. So Check with your pharmacist or OB about it if you're having trouble sleeping.

You CAN drink soda in moderation so try ginger ale to settle your stomach (no caffeine). And try all the flavors of gatorade until you find one that you can stomach - they'll help out a lot since nausea is probably keeping you from chugging liquids right now...also, chew ice chips. If you're hospitalized during pregnancy they always give you ice chips because A) they combat nausea and B) they keep you hydrated, albeit slowly.

best of luck...please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about how to cope with some of this while pregnant..like I said, this is my 3rd pregnancy, and I've had to deal with pain medicine on and off during all 3...and when I was 34wks with my daughter I had kidney surgery and had to wean myself off of morphine (voluntarily - the doctor told me to stay on it, but when I told him I wanted OFF he helped me taper) and I remember how icky all of this feels, but something about being pregnant gives our bodies strength and I found pregnant detox a lot easier than not-pregnant detox..odd, huh? Anyway I'm here for you and make sure to keep posting over in Pregnancy 18-34 because the best thing you can do right now is stay excited about the pregnancy - THAT is your motivation <3.

Glad you were able to sleep.  Definitely check with your doctor about imodium.  I checked online and it is considered "safe for occasional use"!  But that is in general, your dr. will know for sure about you!  The most important thing is to keep hydrated while pregnant.  Keep posting!

Thank you, not sure I can take immodium, and I would need to talk to my ob or a pharmacist as in taking a prenatal vitamin that may hasn't these in it, which I think they do. You can overdose on vitamins too. Also being pregnant, I can only eat bread, fruit, veggies, salads burgers, and can only drink water and hot tea. My body it's taking over :) Anyways, I got a few hours sleep, will try again, as out is 3:am

If you have the "flu" like symptoms, that is a common opiate withdrawal symptom.  After (better yet, start now) you are over the "hump" (the first 3-5 days) you should be taking a good multivitamin with the full B complex vitamins) extra B6, vitamin C, and a Calcium and Magnesium supplement as well.
There are also amino acid supplements you can take to help you with any mood/depression and energy problems you may feel after you have stopped taking the opiate.
All those vitamins will help you get those essential amino acids from food however, as long as you are eating the right foods that have the nutrients your body needs to produce them.

Check out the amino acid protocol page, the link is at the bottom of the main page somewhere, as well as check out the dietary recommendations.
Being pregnant, you should be concerned about eating properly, and since you were taking an opiate, especially concerned that you eat a proper diet.

Just remember his life will be better too when you are clean.  It is important to let him help you right now.  It is not forever...that child you are carrying belongs to both of you.  Yes, it is hard on him working and then coming home but the end result will be so worth it!!!!!

Hi there hon...I just wanted to suggest asking about tylenol PM or unisom..both are safe during pregnancy ((*check with OB first!)) but since you're first trimester, they may want you to hold off....but you can definitely call and ask, OK?

He works day and night at his business, or doing scrapping to pay the bills, we just got married sept 24 so set back a lil, but also to but a house. Lately he comes home to a messy house and my begging him to help with our lil one, while he cooks himself something to eat. Today he spent 6 hours cleaning, then cooked, and since I could not eat it because it makes me sick, made me the sandwich I'm now eating. He loves me but it is hard for him as well. He does under stand, because hes been thru addiction him self. We are both frustrated. I guesses sometimes I forget he has a side too. I'm very lucky to have him. The 5 years we have bern together may have been tough at times but we always pull together. I kno he will stick by me and I can be the woman I was, and the mom I was.

Shouldn't your husband go a little easier on you since you are pregnant, going thru WDs and taking care of a two year old?  Not to be mean but I think you deserve a break here.

When I found out I was pregnant I was using loratabs daily. Never knew it could be harmful to stop but I did the exact day I found out. It was rough I was 8 weeks along. But my baby is so healthy. And while I was pregnant I slipped up again with dilaudid. For a week. I was 35 weeks  came clean to my ob and stopped right away. My addiction got the best of me. But my baby was born so healthy. I'm very lucky. She now 3 months and never had any health problems. You can do this mama. Just keep up on the addiction. Cause even tho my daughter is my life and I love her more than anything in this world I am now detoxing off of a months use of methadone. Stupidly just to get high. I'm so disappointed in myself. But I'm getting clean and staying clean for her and mostly myself. I stole a month of my child's life and my own. All to get high. Your never alone. You can do this.

Thank you. I know I can do it. Mostly because of the support I have on here. I don't want to go back because then I have to do this all over again. Counting the hours... 42 without.

I'm sure your little angel is fine. And yes, are are an addict and must stay off all drugs which have the potential to alter your mind.
You have a lot of inner strength to have been able to quit all those other addictions.
You can do this girl!!!!!

Dr knows... Helped me taper even tho she said I could do cold turkey. I think maternal instincts are best. I tried child turky 5 times, this being #6, since I found out I was prego 7 wks ago, and could not do it for fear of baby. This time I feel baby is ok. Baby is strong, like a lil parasite. Gone through the flu, a bad chest child, and now this. As long as I east and sleep
