2nd day off tramadol/hydrocodone

since I was in and out of the hospital most of the year in 2008 and they were medicating me constantly, and this year I have a slipped disk in my lumbar region.  So my regular doctor was giving me hydrocodone and tramadol, he told me to switch off.  Well, the the tramadol didn't work as well, so I would take all the hydrocodone first, and then when I was out I would take the tramadol because it kept me from going through withdrawls.  July 4 was my first day without my pain medicine.
So now I'm out of both, I've been to a few pain doctors this year who treated me like I was a 2nd class citizen and a junkie and I refuse to be treated as such.  These doctors are the reason that I'm a "junkie" and I expect to be treated with some respect and class.
Anyhow, I still hurt like hell but I'm out of meds and I'm not sure what to do.  The last worthless pain doctor I went to prescribed me Neorontin in addition to other things, so I'm taking that...I've heard that it helps with opiate withdrawls, but I don't think so because I'm still going absolutely crazy.  I don't know how to take them (dosage-wise) for something like that. If anyone can give me any help about this neurontin or anything else PLEASE PLEASE private message me, I need all of the friends and encouragement I can get...my husband just regrets my addiction and I get no support.

Thank you.

Pain is terrible to live with.  I use a lot of things put together.  Right now I can't take my ibuprofen and it's killing me.  I like the ThermaCare heating pads (ice makes me worse.)  I also use two different prescription gels.  Nothing takes the pain away completely but piecing a bunch of things together can help take the edge off.  Neurontin does help some of my nerve pain but not all of it.  I don't think it works on all types of pain.  It may or may not work for you.  Vicki is right; no one should be treated badly!!

This is for Vicki and Irishann - Thank you so much for your posts, it really means a lot to me.  When someone cares enough to answer my post and they know I'm in pain really helps me fell like I have some support.  I'm still on the  neurontin, we'll see how it goes.  Thanks again...

Hey friend! So my physician prescribed me neurotin (sp) to help with the worst nerve pain in my back/azz you can imagine. All I can say, that for me, it didn't do anything for me at all! In fact, this past weekend at work, I kept dropping stuff, like a glass coffee pot, pens, dropped a full glass of ice water on my boyfriends lap (swear to god it was an accident!) I mean, I am clumsy, I admit, but it was ridiculous..so I threw them down the toilet! I don't know if this helps at all...but just know you have friends here!

No...not rude, just angry and I understand that.   Listen, first...forgive yourself and just start over.  You won't feel like this for very long and you need to work at feeling good. Mostly it's all mental!

I guess we're all junkies but that's such an old term.  Most of us haven't sold our "junk" to get pills. We came by them much easier...

You'll need to find a doctor to help you with the neurontin. Ask a pharmacist about it in the meantime.  It can help with pain and some w/d sx but it's not a panacea.

You deserve to be treated well. Don't accept anything but the best. Look around for a doctor to help you. It doesn't have to be this hard.

No, I'm not angry...no wait,.. I am angry with my doctors but I don't mean to express that here.  I'm sorry.   I am taking the nerontin as prescribed, and I'll do so for a week or so but so far I'm noticing no affect whatsoever.  So I'm wanting something for my pain AND my...mental instability?  For lack of a better term.  Maybe I am just a junkie and that's why they're treating me like one.  I just wake up each day crying now and I have a little baby to take care of and I can't be acting/feeling this way.
I'm sorry if I came off rude, I didn't mean to.  I'm so down right now.  =(

Aren't there any directions on the the label?

You sound angry. Remember, we're your friends here...we just can't offer dosing advice or taper plans. We have a lot of suggestions and most of us have been exactly where you are right now. You'll get through this...

Well, the doctor who prescribed it for me won't see me anymore, so much for that.  Thanks though.

Hi...we can't tell you how to take the Neurontin in a private message or on the forum. Take it as it was prescribed. It helps sometimes and don't stop taking it without contacting your doctor.

Right now,you need to keep taking fluids. Dehydration will make you feel worse! And be sure to eat!

Keep posting here. Good luck!
