How long can I expect this anxiety to last after stopping vicodin and Tramadol?

I recently stopped taking vicodin and tramadol(tram on occasion).  Was using for over 3 years.. maybe up to like 9 (5mg/500mg) vicodins a day.. with a few breaks in there.. but never went more than 2 or 3 weeks without anything..   I am quit addicted.. Today is day 8 of nothing.. already went thru the physical HELL but now i have anxiety every single day and it's making me depressed.  Can someone who's been off of this stuff for a few months tell me if you go back to being yourself?   I don't want to get on any anti-depressants or anything as I never had to be on them before.. I was always naturally a happy dude.  I just want to know if and when it goes back to normal.. I know 8 days isn't that long to be off but it's a start right?  Last time I went, was 23 days and still didn't feel 100%.. please help

I have been  on tramadol for quite sometime . Before using tramadol I was on hydrocodone for 1 year
Currently , I have been off  tramadol for 3 months, and  al;so I am taking gabapentin  as well as clonazepam
These  medicines do help, anxiety,  but unless I take them , my anxiety comes back.
I have been unable to find any information , how long anxiety post use of opiods, may last.
My issue is if one day I'll b e  able to go off clonazepam and gabapentin, without suffering from annoying anxiety.

I am on day nine as well, I have tried several times before and gradually went back.  The anxiety and panic have always been my worse problem.  This time I am taking St Johns Wort tablets and find that  after a few days they are really helping me be calmer,, I am also taking 5htp  at night, and also this time I am making myself exercise it seems to help.

trust me, the anxiety goes away.. It takes some time.. just make it a goal to get past a month with no opiates and then you'll see your anxiety start to fade.  Every day seems like eternity.. that is why people think it'll never go away.  Trust me it does.

yeah, i was trying 5-htp and it wasn't really helping much.. it seemed to make me way more wired than when I was off of it.  I got literally NO sleep when I would take it.  I still have some but don't think i wanna take it  yet.

thanks though

Thanks both of you..  not going to any recover care or anything.  Can't really let people know about this.  My wife doesn't know and it kills me to not tell her but she flipped the first time i told her over 2 years ago.  I'm generally an honest person but as you guys prolly know, drugs make you lie!  haha.   I jst wanna be DONE with this ****.  it's almost day 9 and i think i'm feelin a tad bit better everyday.  I'm hoping it just takes time.. I would think i'd be better by now but I guess not.. day 8 isn't that long.. just seems long when you are sober haha.

I do take vitamins.. A multi-vitamin and have been eating real healthy and taking spirulina.   i'll check out the health page
