Congrats on your 7 days clean. Sick close to this site as it has been a lifesaver for me and my 40 s0me days clean. Your sleep will come back, slowly but surely. It takes time but I promise it will, it was one of the last things to happen for me. Again, congrats on your clean time and for wanting your life back. It was the best decision I ever made :)
Welcome Home and a HUGE congrats on your 7 DAYS!!!!
You know I read somewhere, it takes 21 days to form a habit and 21 days to form a new one.....
Seems like a short while.....but if you try to brush your teeth with the opposite hand for 21 days.....I'm betting it would get easier, lol
Course, for me....if I used pain pills for 5+ yrs.....it seems only reasonable to me that it will take me some months....back to back.....of NOT using before I even become remotely comfortable in my new ways of living.
Hang in there....your brain needs to un-learn and RE-learn.....and you're off to a great start~
A HUGE Hi-Five to you on your 7 days clean! I agree w/ Sweetness91, Clonodine definitely helps. Have patience w/ the process, your emotions and your body. It'll take some time to re-regulate your neural pathways but you're over that huge initial hump. You're doing great. So proud of you! Hold fast when those cravings come. Just see them for what they are: tricks of your old mindset to pull you backwards into the undertow. A shiny new life awaits. Keep your eye on that prize. All good things to you!
DEFINITELY stay on it!! I did the Clonidine (which is the pill form of Catapres) while withdrawing and I can honestly say I never would have made it thru without it!the cravings are normal...whether you are addicted or physically dependent...it becomes a way of life, and also a habit. Habits are hard to break in a week or so...give yourself time to adjust, you'll see that the cravings are fewer and farther between! Good luck and congrats on your decision to come clean! :) god bless :):):)
I am telling you..I learn about more drugs then I ever did in my nursing years or on the streets. I can say I have never heard of that patch..I know they use clonidine to help with opiate with draws it must be like that..You said it was a bp patch that was good...Keep on it...
Congratulations!!!!
I will always need support. This is not only a great site for assistance and support with w/ds and cravings...
It is also a great fellowship that can help you with stress and anxiety and about anything else life can throw at you. Very bright, spiritual, and strong people :) of course I am a little bias.
AA and NA of course are great programs to get into as well.
Sitck around and let us know how you are doing.
I think it was a Catapres-TTS patch and Motrin beleave it or not . The patch is used for high blood pressure . They also gave me stuff to help me sleep but did not work . I just woke up after 3 hours of sleep and before that I was awake for right around 40 hours with one half an hour nap . And my first post I should have said at detox I did have trouble sleeping but I do if I'm not in my bed . The shakey ness came on after I left the detox unit . I didn't think I would need support after because from day one I never liked the Oxy's . BUT after getting home where I would take them did make for some feeling of wanting some again . I will not take another Oxy as long as I live !! I took the at high dose for the past year due to I had surgery on my back 3 times in less than a year . I never really liked the way they made me feel so I thought but after getting home and having them thoughts I just don't know what to think . Buying would never buy off the street and my Dr knows not to give me any , anymore .. Thanks for all the replays !!
I am thrilled for you and your new beginning! Hang onto your clean time with all you got. Don't let anything come between you and it.
Congratulations on your first step in getting your life back! Your sleep will return. EVERYTHING will return. You're going to love your new life, where everything doesn't depend on a drug of choice. I'd like to ditto what Vickie mentioned in her post above about aftercare meetings. Just like we used on a daily basis, our own recovery is something we need to participate in on a daily basis. I stopped using but there was no graduation once i did. I started up with my NA meetings because my addiction blew in my ear every day. All day my addictions make withdrawals, so I go to meetings to make a deposit. Keep posting on here let us know how your doing. Again, congrats on your clean time!
Good Job..I want to know what they used to help you?..That was fast..Now you should get to some meetings..It is very up lifting and you learn some tools toward the recovery..Life is not a walk in the park all the time..We do have issue that can come are way..The meetings give us support so we can learn to deal with life on lifes terms..You know so we do not run for the drug just because we hurt a toe, or want to get the yard clean ect..I am proud of you ..You took that First Step and now you are well on you way...
Great Job on Your Time...
Congratulations . . what great news! The sleeping will return in time and the shakiness and any other w/d stuff will fade. Now you can focus on getting your life back. Thanks for updating; very inspiring post for anyone just starting or thinking about it. Good luck to you and keep posting with your progress ok?
