7 days off tramadol

Hi all. 2 weeks and 1 day ago I stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I made it nearly 7 days before the worst of the wds set in. I was awake for over 40 hours when I gave in and took 1 so I could get some sleep.  I was devastated to have given in. I found an addiction medicine doctor in my area who got me on track with comfort meds so I could complete the withdrawal process.  I am now 7 days clear of tramadol.  I am feeling better despite waking up yesterday with one nasty head cold.  I learned a lot from this doctor.  He did stress that I should take the meds through this Tuesday but I don't think I need them anymore.  Of course I have them just in case.  Thanks to those of you who were encouraging through the detox process.  I will be working with the doctor who helped me in accordance with the doctor who had me on tramadol for 13 years to compile a journal of symptoms/duration of withdrawal in the hopes to enlighten those that still believe tramadol does not have a down side. There are still many doctors who believe that it is not addictive or even physically depending.  Anyone who would like to share their imput on tramadol withdrawal so I can pass it along please message me.

The addiction specialist I saw is actually awesome.  He put me on 7 days of neurontin for my pain and clonidine for withdrawal symptoms as well as remeron for sleep.  I didn't even use the remeron though because neurontin makes me sleepy.  I have heard neurontin can be addictive but I can say it was a miracle for the symptoms and I don't plan on taking it anymore.  Just got me through the really hard days.  I feel almost human again.  He said tramadol is one of the most difficult opiates to withdrawal from as well as being one of the longest.  I am so happy to be on the other side of it now though.  I will continue working with him as long as possible.  He has been doing this for 38 years as well as being someone who has gone through it himself with vicodin.  That's why he became an addiction medicine doctor.
