8 Months today!

Well my days are surely starting to add up. 8 months clean and sober, free from the gripes of pills. I want to first thank you all on here for supporting me as this is my aftercare. I know I should have went to meetings and what not, I just never went that route, yet I read these posts everyday and they help me immensely. Life has been great to me. My days are more joyous than ever and I smile, I truely smile almost daily. Life is truely a blessing but it is an everyday struggle. To all of you thank you so much and keep on going. Please do not go back to drugs no matter how difficult it may be. I was having minor anxiety problems a month back and still deal with a down day but the up days outdo the down days HANDS DOWN! I have been waiting and working so hard for 8 months and to say I am happy is an understatement. I am proud of myself and all of you. Please do not give up. It does get better it just takes much more time that we want. God bless you all and GOod luck! SUnny

Congratulations - you are an inspiration to me and so many others.  I am relatively new here (joined earlier this month), and have 53 days clean from a very long and heavy bout with Tramadol.  Thank you for posting your comments and experience; it is truly what I needed to see today!

Why thank you miss. You too will be 8 months I am sure of it. Well my anxiety has subsided this past month or so. But I have not gone to a doctor so I dont even know if what I have constitutes anxiety. I would just have a pit in my chest like all day, racing thoughts, down a bit and wondering about life. It was a mess of different things that were going on in my brain and body. Maybe it was mild depression, I really have no idea. But this past month has been fantastic! Still more work to do but getting there. I just always want people to know that it is still a challenge even this long in. I mean, not many people, well no one that I have ever spoken to, is 100% after a month or two. Sure we feel better and life goes on but it is a much longer journey than that. If you often wonder why so many peolpe relapse after 6 months or a year, it isnt because they are feeling great. They still need work and some give up. We cannot give up. It is a great journey that takes a lot of work. It is hard but worth every effort. Good luck to you Shawn. God Bless SUnny
