Kidney Stone Now What?!?

K so I was doing great, made it through day #4 and was feeling wonderful. Last night around 12:30am my boyfriend had to take me to the ER. I have a 4mm kidney stone, pain so bad I threw up. Now when I was doing so good without meds I have to take em again. Its almost like the devil couldn't take me getting clean. I've been taking my meds exactly as directed, and I'm not happy about it. Is this gonna send me on a downward spiral now? What should I do? I tried not taking any but I can't stand the pain. Everytime I use the bathroom I pray I will see that little damn stone in the strainer so I can just quit taking this ****. I feel terrible and I'm soooo scared I'm gonna have to go thru the damn withdrawals again. This is so not fair! I been crying like a baby over this. I feel defeated even tho this was completely out of my control. Someone help! WHAT NOW??? I am a sober alcoholic too, but at least with that I'll NEVER be forced to drink any...... with pain pills I'm sure this won't be the last time something happens where I do have to take them. This battle is never gonna be over. Pray for me...... I don't wanna fall off the wagon...... I don't wanna withdrawal..... I HATE this day.

Hey so sorry to hear about your situation, I am going threw the exact same thing, I got hooked when I started taking pain meds for a kidney stone and have had them twice since. The unfortunate thing about stones is once you have have them you have about an 80% chance of getting them again. I have tried Tramadol and when the pain gets to terriblyt bad I go to the ER. This was what the pain pills were made for. Don't abuse but you have to be able to live. You can start back up as soon as this passes on through. It won't set you back terribly.

yes i agree with Avisq,get yourself over the kidney stone first.Like the A>A>.. saying first things first. The drug dont aways have to be ABUSED,get some discipline from your a.a. sobriety.take the pills until your no longer in pain,then put the lid back on the pill bollle and get on with life.goodluck john

for now worry  about passing the stone ........  give meds to hubby ........ get threw this ..... then get your self right back on track ,i am in somewhat of the same situation...
but for now i am worried about being healthy ,then i will worry about getting back off the meds ,you the least possible you need but don't suffer for it .....
