addicted brother

My 42 year old brother is bleeding my parents, who are on a fixed income dry.  They're about to lose their house.  I'm ready to leave (I live in their 2nd floor apt. and pay rent).  I can't watch this accident ready to happen anymore ( about to lose my sanity).  Anything I can do about a 30 year abuse on my parents who feel helpless and won't help themselves ( their in their mid 70's)?

Thanks, but my mom WILL NEVER give up her baby, she's in denial.  My dad's in the hospital now, (he's knows whats what).  She'll keep him alive no matter what.  They've been told and know his liver is beyond repair.

Somehow you need to make them see that they need to STOP enabling him...tell them they are killing him...a SLOW death..maybe get an interventionist to help...if someone else brings it to their attention..it might have more merit....WOW...this is a tough one...you need to protect your parents..not your brother..time for TOUGH LOVE!!!!!

Welcome to the forum...good luck and keep psoting!!!

I couldn't sit by and watch my elderly parents be taken for everything they had either.  You have the power to stop this.  Turn him in and don't let your parents bail him out.  Make them understand that you are doing this for your brother and them BOTH.  It will help him to get clean while he's in jail, and him getting clean will help keep your parents from losing their last dime because of his addiction.  It would be bad enough it it was a prescription habit, but illegal drugs?  No way I would allow him to continue.  I apologize if I sound heartless toward your brother, but he needs help, and so do your parents.  They don't deserve to end up on the street in the twilight of their lives because of your brother's illegal drug habit.

he needs to go in  if he get's busted again don't let your parents bail him out....explain that jail will be a good detox and that he will only benefit from doin time and they wont have to worry bout him... my sister was a cracker and when she went to jail i and the rest of the fam were relieved because we knew she was safe,,,,sounds strange but true....she ripped parents off 24 000 $......jail just sobered me out to ......never stole from fam or friends though....

He's been "arrested" numerous times.  Bailed out constantly, parents always paying fines.

If it is illegal drugs, turn him in. he has no business doing that to them.

Wow, I am sorry to hear this. I am sure it must be very hard. I don't know what to say, and I am sorry for that, but I wish you all the best.
