I saw my chiropractor on a regular basis, still do. He keeps me flowing!!
Thank you so much for your advice and insight.
The chiro I am seeing has Crones disease herself. I never knew autoimmune diseases can be helped by chiropractics. Still don't but we will see.
Your right too. My body is probably still adjusting to not having the pills. I need to give that time. But if this can help I will be do happy. It cycles. Right now I am in a bad part of the cycle.
Glad you have found ways to help your pain too. Spine issues are not fun. I am grateful. I fine there at the moment.
I started going to a chiro when I pinched a nerve in my back the first time, I was 11. So, I've gone to them for 32 yrs now. Some are good, some aren't, but I reach a point I can't stand up or walk without feeling like ice picks are being stabbed in my back and hips. I have mild sciliosis, so adjustments help it from being crippling. The ones who do a funk body treatment EVERY time are the only ones worth seeing for me. Many will just work on what they think is causing the pain. Well, any joint left out will slowly pull my whole alignment off. I learned to tell a new chiro that on the first visit. My current chiro has a water jet bed I lay on before I get adjusted and it helps me relax, so all my issues can be addressed. Too much pain will cause swelling and then adjustment becomes impossible, until it reduces.
Now, my favorite chiro was when I was 18, he did acupressure and deep tissue massage as well. Because I was poor and lived in my van that last year of high school, I told him I had to stop going. That is when he taught me about putting two tennis balls in the end of a sock and tying a knot in the end to push the balls tight together. I cut the excess sick off. I out the balls on the floor and place one on either side of my spine. I roll my body over the balls, massaging either side of the spine and then relax onto them. My body weight adjusts my vertebra all the lactic acid is pushed out of the spinal muscles. Then I lay flat, without the balls and my wife can pull my femurs out of my pelvis and my bios get adjusted. Now it took some practice, but I went to a chiro a couple times a month in my teens and early twenties, now it's more like 4 times a year. My back hurts less at middle age then it 20, so adjustments have definitely helped me over time.
Often, joints get stuck or out of alignment awhile before the real pain hits. I have learned to be aware and if I can't adjust myself I make an appointment. I went to physical therapy and learned exercises to build strength that takes the stress off my joints and keeps them flexible. I start and end my day stretching and rolling on the balls. I use a yoga ball a lot through the day, just to relax and stretch my spine. Swimming is the best exercise for me, low impact and I move every joint and muscle.
The other thing was opiated induced hyper algesia. It took a looking time before I could really fine tune my body after I quit opiates. It was maybe a year before I only felt legit pain, but my pain is less than it was on opiates now. I do have to watch that I don't push it so much, and my clear head makes that possible. That alone is a big part of why I hurt so much on drugs, I would push myself until I broke.
I hope this helps somehow, keep looking for solutions, other than drugs, you will find what works best for you. Hope you feel better soon.
I have gone several times to chiropractor. There is some actually help. But most will take alot of expensive test tell u this is why this hurts ..
If u find a chiropractic with m.d. along with natural acupressure they do wonders on pain. Problem I have had the $$ is way more important than patients. Just like most Dr. Will prescribed pain pills but refuse to find root of problem. After saying all that just be careful who u go to. Do massive research. They can be awesome. Try acupressure. Good luck. Hang in there!
I don't think you are being whiney at all. I think you need to find out exactly what is going on, and certainly try all viable treatment alternatives. Hopefully you will get more input from others. Hope you feel better.
Thank you. I know others have issues that are south worse than mine. Sorry for being whiny. I'm just sick of the pain and always being tired bc I get no sleep. If I wake up 1-2 times that is a good night.
Hi Merri, gosh I'm so sorry you are going through all of this. I personally have never been to a Chiropractor, but my roommate absolutely swears by it. She has all kinds of back issues, and has regularly gone to a Chiropractor for years. She tries to go once a month. She says it helps her with movement and pain. I know some people really believe in them, and some people don't. I certainly hope you find some answers and relief soon! Take care!
