BIG test for me tomm

well I am almost 5 days clean and only used 1 time in the last 12 days, I know that 1 time was 1 time to many but I did it, got up dusted myself off and started again on sunday. I feel good most of the day, I am sleeping a good 6 hours and feel alright, still little energy but I can deal with that. The BIG test is that tomm I have to pick up my disabled fathers hydros since he cant get out to get them. I know I will pass this test, I will not even open the bag to look at them. Wish me luck. and hope evry1 has a gr8 sober day.

TY all. I went with my wife to pick them up but had no urge(sp) to even open it so that went well. I know that doesent mean that I am magically cured but very proud of myself.

Well done!!! This is so wise... As said on other posts, you are pretty early in your recovery, you really don't need a test right now... Staying clean is your daily "test".

Congrats on your 5 days of Freedom, Starting a recovery group is a brilliant idea!!! I think you can check on the site na.org and have some kinda stating kit....

im taking all the advice and my wife is going to pick it up for him. Now to make it through the weekend with no slip ups. The week seems easy its the weekend when my kids want me to paly that triggers me. I am going to start looking into some aftercare next week. I live so far out in the country i do not know of anything nowhere near here. I do know plenty of addicts and recovering addicts so I may try to get something started myself so all of us that live in nomans land have somewhere to go. I am going to talk to my pastor and see if maybe he can help with this and maybe use the church as a meeting place. I dont know but we will see.

And maybe for the future you could find a pharmacy that he can switch to that delivers. We have a couple of those around here, you should check into it. And even if you don't, you could call his insurance and see about some mail order pharmacies. A lot of older disabled people use this kind of thing.

Hey dude im glad to here you picked your self up so quickly thats great...I agree with the above posters you need to have someone else pick it up if you can if not take Sarahs advise and take someone with you....a bag full of hydros is a big temptation and just going to a pharmacy can be a trigger for some...you need to be mindful about your actions especially early on you need all the help you can get guarding your clean time..I know I cant even be around the pills to this day....good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Glad you posted what you are thinking and doing.  I never did that and I sabotaged (sp?) myself so many times.

My experience has been that the energy takes a bit of time to return and depends on the type, amount and duration of opiate/drug use.  Most people do see it return and get better as they days pass.

Congratulations of 'dusting yourself off and starting again' instead of throwing in the towel!  I understand what you are dealing with.  I help take care of my mom - there is no one else and she has hydros too.  I have stayed away as much as possible, but have had a couple of tests and passed.  But I had to totally pray and gear myself up for the visit.  I know I will have to face this again in the future and would prefer not too, but this is life.  I agree with IBKLEEN if there is anyone else - it would be better, much better.  But if not, like you said don't even open the bag and get out of there quickly.  Being sober is so much better!  It really is!!! I am 4.5 weeks and feel better and happier than I have in years and even have more energy, real energy from taking supplements, eating better and exercising.  I wake up each day looking forward to the day instead of popping a pill to get me to the next pill and then the next.  What a suck life that was!  Hang in there and don't give up!
