Baclofen

Hello,
I am new to this MedHelp and I have a question.  Is Baclofen addictive?  My hubby has been taking it round the clock total of 60 mg equally spaced in 24 hours hours for about 2 years now.  I am worried that he might be addicted to it.  Should I be concerned?

I was prescribed Baclofen for my back when I went off my pain meds. I told the Dr I didn't want to trade one narcotic for another and he assured me as motye51 said that it's not a narcotic. I ended up only taking half a pill (5mg) once while I researched the heck out of it. I decided not to take it because of all the posts I read about people becoming addicted/abusing it. If he's on that high of a dosage he will have to work with his Dr to wean himself off of it. That was one of the main reasons I didn't want to take it. You can go thru withdrawals as bad as you do with opiates, and suddenly stopping it can cause a whole host of problems like seizures.

From what I've read, baclofan is not a narcotic, but IS addictive! I think 2 years is long enough to have acquired a habit or addiction. But it also says you can't stop it cold turkey.... Its a muscle relaxant so must be weened down. This medicine should have been used as a temporary fix while real treatment was done like physical therapy. I would suggest bringing it up with the Dr....does he have MS?
