Craving codeine. Day4 weaning

Please could I have some support. I am on day 4 of going from 700 mg daily to 15 mg x 4 daily of codeine. I feel so low, lack of energy, teary CRAVING CODEINE, constantly having thoughts like 'I can do codeine one day.

My mam is being supportive giving me the pills as I know I wouldn't be able to take them properly.

Are these feelings normal? Will I ever feel normal again? This is horrible I feel so unconfortable in my own skin but can't really explain it.

Although a part of me knows i did the right thing in telling my mam, another part is thinking what the hell have you done n will I ever have codeine again. I know this mindset is wrong.

Please help.

Nobody is going to laugh at you.  :)   Anyone that has had an addiction to opiates or other substances is always welcome to attend NA.   The only requirement is the desire to quit and stay substance free.    Codeine isn't a drug that I would go on subs for.  That's like taking a grenade launcher to a bb gun target shoot.  Cravings do subside in time and eventually we find ourselves not thinking about the drug all the time, or sometimes even days pass.   Getting detoxed will help with cravings, then support groups such as NA will help you learn how to redirect yourself when cravings hit.

Yes thank you for your comment.

Doctor has referred me to Prescribed Medications Support service. Does anyone know what they'll do with me? Will they help me get rid of the cravings????

Someone said they were on sub? What is this n is it only for hardcore drug addicts? I mean do i call myself an addict now? Ugh. Sorry.

Has anyone any opinions on NA? Are codeine addicts allowed? Cause I don't. Want to offend anyone or be laughed at.

Hi There!   What you are feeling is VERY normal.  It's part of withdraws.  Feeling extremely lethargic, like you can't even get off the couch, yawning, teary eyes, runny nose, diarrhea, creepy crawly skin, restless legs.  It DOES go away.  You just need to give yourself a few days and know that each day you are healing and getting better.   In the meantime, your mind IS going to play tricks on you with cravings.  The #1 thing you need to do is get rid of all your potential sources.  Then when those thoughts about 'what have I done' creep in, you know you did the right thing rather than give in to them.  You don't want to, nor do you have to, do this ever again.  It gets harder each time to do.  When will you be completely done?   You have made an excellent decision and we will help you through the process.  When you are past the worst of it, you will be so glad you did this, even though it doesn't feel like that right now.
