Crazy train

I'm going to my 1st. Narcanon meeting tonight and I'm scared.I've been on drugs for so long, I'm not sure how I will be off them; does that make sense?I know I need to get clean for good; I know it's going to be hard; and I know that I will have good and bad days, just like everything in life. But I'm still scared.I'm really glad I found this site.Reading postsmakes me feel like I'm not alone. I feel weak for being addicted to these things, and trying to live with this pain not on anything is going to really be tough. How do you guys manage to do it?I know diet, exercize help.I think reality is really hitting home for me today and I'm scared. Thanks for listening!

Yeah getting clean one of the wildest trips I have ever done, but its the best trip I have done it does get gooder and gooder and gooder, then one day you wake up and all the bad just seems to be an almost forgotten dream, keep go'n it is worth the cost it takes to finish this race!!!

It's normal to wonder what will happen when you get off drugs. Most of us have a 'getting-to-know-ourselves' period once the fog clears from the drugs. Getting clean is a huge major life change, so if you weren't scared there may be a problem! You sound like you're pretty prepared for what will be happening, and knowledge/awareness is half the battle. Addicts are some of the strongest minded people in the world, we just channel it to a different degree that what's normal or healthy! This isn't a weakness, it's a disease - and it's an ever-evolving journey once you get clean. Everyone does recovery different, try everything you can and find what works for you. Last thing - did you mean NA meeting? Narcanon is for family/friends of addicts - you're going to Narcotics Anonymous right? Keep posting!  :)
