As I said to you earlier today (don't know where), you have to first put down the drugs. Second, you have to get away from people, places and things. Know what I mean? And last, and hardest, is you have to work to get to the core issues of the problem. Using drugs is a symptom of the disease of addiction. We use drugs to "escape" or "not to feel" or whatever the reason. Each of us is different. Once we stop using we have to learn how to stay stopped.
Sounds easy doesn't it? Well, it is not and it will take every thing you have to get and stay clean. You are going to have to really want this and you are going to have to work for it. Especially with cocaine. My experience is that it is just about the sneakiest drug I have ever done. There is no physical withdrawal with it but the mental withdrawal can bring you to your knees.
So I guess I have to ask...are you really, really ready to get clean?
It never occured to me that i needed recovery care until i found this site yesterday and made me realize that if I don't start going even if I lost 5 years being off the drug I might relapse and have to start all over again
Have you thought about any recovery care?
yeah that's true, well i used to be crack addict and been off it for 2 years now, just recently have I started cocaine again I can go through a month or two but always go back it's ******
Do you do much coke at 90?
Are you getting any aftercare? For me, I don't really think about using when I'm on here, I'm mainly on here to offer my support for the newcomer. I get my support from AA and NA, where I've worked the steps and sponsor others now.
I can't ever forget that I'm an addict because if I do, I'll use again. That doesn't mean I have to focus on it all the time, but I have to remember that I'm not like normal people; I can't go out and have ONE drink or smoke ONE joint and be ok, I'll be fiending for more.
This site can work to get us through withdrawls, but in my opinion, it doesn't constitute the aftercare that is necessary to stay clean for exteneded periods of time, for years and multiples of years. Ask any one of the people with more than a year of clean time under their belt, they'll tell you. Get into aftercare. For me and the people I got clean with in my home town, it's AA and NA. For others, its addiction counselors. Do what it takes to get yourself to a place you want to be.
Well it helps alot of us yea. We are addicts and we think were alone and we get on here and see others in our shoes askig for help and we help one another. So YES it does help!!!!
