Day 13

I am 13 days in off suboxone and opiates and I feel better today than I have in months. I do have a very bad cold as a result of my weakened immune system, but I can't complain. Still tired and restless at the same time and my stomach is still messed up. Finally stopped sneezing yesterday. Little by little it's getting better, so those of you you who are a few days behind me just hang on. It does get better. I am starting to feel happiness again which I thought would never happen. Hopeful that tomorrow will be a very Merry Christmas and my sobriety being the best gift I've ever given my family and myself. Living dead girl is coming back to life!

Aw man the laughter was the best part about getting over my detox. When I got clean in April I went to a psych ward of a hospital, then a detox center for 30 days, then a 28 day rehab, then a long term program. I'll tell you in that detox center I started laughing hysterically. Listening to rugged junkies from Lynn Mass argue over how big Komodo dragons get hahaha. Just all the random jokes and jabs we took at eachother, I could laugh at myself. Those laughs that come from deep within your stomach are comparable to an orgasm! Just continue to enjoy the subtle things in life as your appreciation for them intensifies :) And for me, going to meetings is a constant reminder of how good my life is now and how I don't want to throw it away. I hope 20 years from now I still go to them often.

Congrats!   You have made it almost 2 weeks.  That's a long time to someone who is addicted to a substance.   It takes about 2 weeks for the symptoms of w/d (even minor ones) to start to subside completely.   The energy and mental  ups and downs takes a little longer but I would say overall you should be feeling pretty good compared to the hell you have just been through.   Remember that anytime you think about taking something again.   It's been 21 days for me.  Last night I was watching a comedian and something about him just made me belly laugh to the point I had tears in my eyes.   What a great feeling!!!   :)   Merry Christmas!!

congrats on 13 days!  i'm sort of a newbie too....i'm 37 days clean off hydro....it's great that you are feeling better....it gets better and better each day!  hang in there and hope you have a great holiday!
