Day 2 and counting....

Morning everyone
Its now day 2 for me again of WDs. This is my second time going CT and I couldn't believe how fast my symptoms of detox came on faster then the first time. Holy ****!!  Still thinking positive so far and I know now I really can't go through this again.  Not just the fact of can't but won't is a much better choice of words.
But I must say that I have been following the vitamin regimine of the Thomas receipe and this seems to really help with my body.  I use my sauna alot and replace the fluids I have sweated out with protiens shakes and water and vitamin waters.  Along with epsom salts in a hot bath to help with my leg aches. I also wrap my legs at night with tensor bandages and this does help with my muscle aches and RLS.
Just a few more days of feeling like **** then hopefully returning to normal.
I do have chronic back pain and had surgery to release my pinched ciatica at the end of March this year. I have been researching different methods of pain management other then pills.
Does anyone know of anything else other then massage, acupuncture, or meditation and advise would be welcomed.
Thanks for listening to me ramble....I'll be on and off most of the time till I get through this and can breath a huge sigh of relief on the other side.

Try binding your legs with tensor bandages tight but not enough to cut off circulation.  I do this and it helps me with the aches.

And yes everything smells funny and tastes terrible. I have a yucky taste in my mouth.  Brushing my teeth and tongue all the time.....lol......

Even washing my hair irritates me and having the shower hit my skin...does this happen with you too.  Thats why I like the tub. Just sit and soak. I use epsoms salts in my water as well it helps I read with the magnesium (spelling??) absorbsion that your body needs.  For a big container of them its like $6 bucks at the drug store.

And your so right this site is a saving grace...God bless them all.

Yup dealing with day 2 yuck......but we'll make it.

Great job on your day 3.....I'll be were you are right now tomorrow.......let know how your doing and I'll keep ya posted too.

hugs

I'm right there with you! I started day 3 at 8am today. I, however, am not following the Thomas recipe but I have found and atleast with me Oranges, banana's, Vitamin waters, water, healthy supply of - stop the poo stuff, and lots of music. Last night sucked bad - no sleep even after taking a xanax, helped...but wow. Felt like my legs needed to be riding a invisible bike while laying in bed (would have helped) Hot, cold etc. I do have a question though.... I know when I was using I didnt pee very much, now Im peein every 5 minutes - is this normal? I know I am drinking water but no more than I was before really. I am still pretty emotional, but am still here - and still sober. I have NEVER made it all the way though a day 3 with out a MAJOR cave! My son came to visit me for the week, and when I saw him i just wanted to cry. I'm 41 now, wow. I noticed that my cigarettes smell funny now too, normal? Lots of weird things happening.

Don't give up. I'm right with you such as thousands here are. This site will be the reason I am able to live, and be alive once this physical part it over. I will deal with the mental part when it is time to cross the bridge. I am seeing a Phd on Monday to talk and get meds to help me, stop the raining in my head. I used due to be addicted dont get me wrong. However, I know if I do not take care of those demons(I like to call them) I will never get through this hell, and it needs to be done. I am not out of the woods yet I know this. What I do know is that - I want my life back, I want to feel like normal, smell things as they are, and leave a cloudy, lonely existence behind me. I need you all here more than ever. I know what needs to be done, it's getting there that hurts us all. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone here dealing with this crisis in life. This can be done, but with help and understanding. even if that understanding ONLY comes from folks on this site. God Help us, help ourselves.

Day 3 - Ouch!

Thanks for the info.....I actually have a sauna in my home.....not overly big but a yoga mat would fit just fine. I have been looking into yoga and have decided that is something I am going to do again. I remember a quite a few years back I went to 3 classes that were free with a friend of mine and really enjoy it. But at the time couldn't afford to take the classes.  They offer yoga at our YMCA so when I am feeling a lot better I may get a membership.
I need to strengthen my back muscles and what better activity then yoga for strengthening.
Thanks again

"Hot Yoga" is known as Bikram Yoga which is yoga done in a room with the temperature of 100 degrees or maybe a tad more.

Since my body does not do well at all in any type of heat this form of yoga is totally out for me.  I do have a good friend who has done Bikram for years and loves it.

Good Luck and Congratulations!

Hey Sam what is hot yoga exactly?  Sounds interesting. I see my surgeon for a post op appointment on Aug 19 and I want to tell him I do not need any more pain meds thank you very much....oh so looking forward to his face when I tell him I have a better and different options then pills.  I completely understand is wasn't his fault for the oxy's I told him I had really bad pain and I do but not to the extent of the oxy's I would chew to feel great and get a lot of things done. I have realized that things do take time to heal and there are other options out there to control pain other then popping pills.
Let me know please if you do take up hot yoga and how it is working for you.
Thanks
