Day 21days clean of opiates now time to taper off the Xanax but I still have bad anxiety...when and hoe should I do this?

How or when should I taper the Xanax ? I have anxiety and have all my life and i'm 29. I'm scared to come off the Xanax since I'm still fresh of being clean from opiate addiction of ten plus yrs!!! Help

The problem is I'm buying em from the streets. I just told him I took em every once and a while for my anxiety. That's when he gave me celexa for depression. I'm not depressed I'm an addict that us in recovery and with ANXIETY!!! What should I do ?

HI Shay with benzos you have to go off them slowly or risk seziers this is something you really need to talk to your dr about they will be able to work out a safe taper plan for you
this is nothing you want to guess at or try and do by yourself benzos are nothing to mess with have a talk with your dr...good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

I'm 87 days clean from Opiates myself, and now I'm in the process of tapering from Ambien, which is also a member of the Benzo family of fine drugs. I unwittingly became addicted while on Opiates. The Vicodin was easy compared to getting off of the Benzo. It's a long, slow laborious process. I've been at it since mid March. It's a long slow taper. If I go too fast I get breathing difficulties, slow heart beat among other amazing symptoms.

Most importantly I've been working with my Doctor on this. Getting off Benzo CT is very dangerous. It's important to get the correct taper reductions. You need to partner with someone experienced, who really knows what they're doing and is familiar with your particular circumstances. With the short history you describe they might even question  the anxiety, and suggest still controlling it in some form or other.
