Day 28 and counting...

Hi everyone - I haven't been posting much as I've been working hard all week long and still feeling like crap.  It's day 28 - almost an entire month and I still have the runs, headaches, can't sleep, RLS and very little energy - I can't believe it's lasting this long!

Before I decided to go cold turkey I read up on how long the wd's would be and what to expect etc. and I thought that it would all be over with in about 10-14 days.  Wow, was I wrong.  But like I just said in another post I guess this is like paying the piper for the abuse I've put my body through for the past 2 1/2 years or so.  But now that I really think about it - I'm not so sure if I would have been as determined to quit if I would have known then that it would take so long before I would feel good again.  In a way, I'm happy that I didn't know the truth because I surely would have chickened out and not gone through with my detox.

Now that I've come so far I feel it would be a waste to blow it now - not now that I'm so close to finally feeling normal again.  I AM almost there - aren't I????

This weekend will make ONE MONTH clean for me - I'm proud of myself for this.  I also quit smoking over 8 months ago - in fact tomorrow will be day 250 for that.  I keep telling myself that I will be free of both of these addictions one day - and one day this will all be a distant memory - like a long ago nightmare, not forgotten but far in the distance...if only it could be.

Thanks everyone for your kind words - I am still awake on this long weekend Friday evening.  It's our Thanksgiving up here in Canada and I'm at least happy to get an extra day off on Monday.  Watching movies with the boyfriend, he's been so supportive and a great help to me too.  Thanks for the words of hope and encouragement - I really hope you guys are right and I do start to feel better soon.  Cause I think it's really about time!!

HI Chico.....your doing great so far congrats on 28days....you should start to feel better as the weeks pass....I tell this to a lot of people I detoxed at 47....my recovery was a lot slower then the 20somethings that frequent this sight  you have to factor in your age when talking about recovery time....I know it su cks but I have watched a lot of people do this and thats a big factor ....become pro active in your recovery seek out aftercare weather it be N/A or A/A
or a therapists but plug in some where...also good nutrition...I drink whey protein shakes
2 a day there loaded with vitamins amino acids as well as the protein all of witch the brain needs to heal...you can pick it up at walmart for 15 bucks for a 2lb can the chocolate flavor is good all you do is mix it with milk....I recommend it to everyone that detoxes it has really helped put me back on my feet...also exercise even if its just walking around the block at first you can build up to bigger and better workouts ...but you need to fight this thing to win...its a lot of little things collectively that make a big difference you have come a long way already your a month clean...I wish you all the best in your recovery dont get discourage keep on keeping on...good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Nope - not a chance in hell would I do this again!!  That should be enough of a scare to keep us clean I hope!!!

Congrats to the both of you two on 33 days!!  So, it DOES get better after about a month?  That's what I've been praying for - I feel like I can sleep a bit better now, but still the upset stomach and diarrhea and energy crashes in the afternoon - how about you?

This is our story! We are 33 days and counting!!! Each day has got better! Wasn't until right about where u are now we got sleep. These past few days has been better than the rest.

Just like you, if we knew it would take this long, probably would of been really scared. But if you think about it, what was our bodies missing? Scary really.....

Proud of you! I would never do this again!!! You?
