first NA meeting today!

I experienced my first meeting today and I'm so glad I decided to add meetings to my recovery. It was definitely a positive experience and I look forward to going back and constantly meeting new people that have the same problem as me. It makes it more real that I am not the only one. Everyone there was so welcoming and kind. I didnt speak yet but I absorbed so much just listening.

"I have a big cheesy grin on my face lately too because I never thought quitting and feeling so good would be possible."

This is the best quote I've read -- I hope everyone in the early stages of recovery gets a chance to see this because it's the truth!!!! Thank you for posting....

Thanks Real, Clean, and Motye!! I have a big cheesy grin on my face lately too because I never thought quitting and feeling so good would be possible.  Of course there are ups and downs but worst day sober doesn't compare at all to my best day high! Im going to try and do the 90/90 days also. I got a list of meetings for my area today. It felt so good to have a genuine laugh with my boys today :))

Thanks and best of luck to u too Clm!!  I also tried to quit about 6 months ago and was unsuccessful. It was also finding this forum and hearing everyone else's success that made me want to take the final jump into a life without pills and I really couldn't be happier!! :)

Congragulations...I find them very helpful. And no, u don't have to talk right now just feel comfortable. Keep it up and try to do the 90/90..this is what I'm trying to do. I was sooooo relieved to see and meet people like me!

I just went to my first meeting last night and my experience was just like yours! I felt such a connection with everyone in the room. I've been trying to quit on my own for 4 months now but I keep relapsing. After joining this forum and committing to go to meetings I finally feel like I have a fighting chance and that's such a good feeling. I didn't speak either but I may at my next meeting tomorrow. I have a little social anxiety so it's difficult at times. I'm hopeful that I can find a sponsor soon and work the steps. It's so good to know I'm not alone in all of this. Best of luck to you!
