Deeply sorry, people! Amitriptyline is NOT SSRI, but TCA. Don't do anything till you ask a specialst. I was on Mirtazepine and tramal, yes...
Amitriptyline and Tramadol is horible interaction leading to Serotonine Syndrome. Had it once, before surgery. any SSRI is evil with Tramal. brrrrrrr.
I was prescribe amitriptyline with topamax for migraines but I give tramadol by a different doctor in Thailand, so after I stop taking amitriptyline when I researched on the web that there was an interaction. So just wondered if anyone had experienced or knew of this interaction
I take amitriptyline too. Its great for sleeping with pain. But have to becareful with other meds. I had to stop taking it when tried citalopram and stuff like that. We aren't drs so best to call yours or ask pharmacist at cvs.
Yes I was warned about that too - something called serotonin syndrome that can come from taking an AD with tramadol. Most Dr.'s would caution or advise against it.
And tapering is supposed to be the better way to go - I didn't taper but only because I didn't know any of that when I quit.
Are you prescribed the TCA? There's already an antidepressant component to Tramadol so I'd check with a doctor. Personally, I would not mix the two.
Slow tapering is perfect with Tramadol! Good luck!
