I think the worst part for me (on day 6, today) is the lack of sleep...averaging 4 hour/night... Its driving me insane. But the rest of the usual symptoms have been minimal. I was only on 10mg /day and tapered down to around 1 before quitting last week...
Tapering is the way to go.
Take it from me, its no walk on the beach! Its taken almost one year for me to detox from 90 down to 2mgs, by next week Im done. I must say I have tried to taper off of oxys & for myself it was much more agonizing then this, but this just lingers with you for months, no sleep, walking around with low energy, sweats, chills, sneezing, & Im sure I missed a few but in the end this is the best way to go, unless she wants to get down to a low dose & switch to suboxone but theirs also some withdrawals with that, theirs no easy answers or quick fix solutions. I dont want to sound as if this is not something one can do, as many do, & if you do go slow & have some kinda support its really not that awful. Penelope
it is absolute h*ll. and everyhting else wait2long above said...
i have heard heroin addicts say they would rather withdraw off heroin 3 times than withdraw off methadone just once...methadone is the worst and the longest withdrawal of any medicine on the market...
she can get off, but she has to do a slow taper, very slow, some here have been on a taper regime for a year to get off methadone...
is she does it slow enough she will be just mildly sick for most of the time...if she just stops and goes cold turkey (which i dont recommend) she will be severely sick...
RLS, no sleep, chills, sweats, stomach cramps, intestinal issues, its just awful there ae a lot more symptoms to add to the list...
