Day two on Suboxone

Its been another great day after taking 16mg of Suboxone yesterday afternoon. I was scheduled to take 8 mgs today but have not had the urge nor have I any WD... nothing at all and I feel alert and normal. Doc said that this happens to some folks and that I should immediately start at 2 to 4 mgs when WD starts. Then if that works, all the better. I know Sub has its down sides, but the foggy headed 6 year prescribed opiate user is not here anymore in terms of how i feel today. I don't abuse my norcos and fent patch but I was so sick and tired of the triplicate circus each month with my PMD I just wanted to find a way to get off the heavy duty stuff at least (the schedule 2 drugs). And if the Sub works well for the pain than I will not go back on 2-4 norcos a day. The Fent patch or oxy or MS Contin all made me feel foggy headed out of it and the 6 month weaning that my PMD suggested was out of the question.

So day two is another success and I will start to wean once we find the perfect dose, which looks like it will be 2-4mg once daily or 2mg twice daily. Doc said that for one who has been on a stuff as high as100mcg fent patch and 200mg of ms contin b4 along with norcos, that the dose was very low and he really tried to push a higher dose cuz he could not believe that I felt 100% normal on such a low dose the next day.

So if there any of you taking Sub, ask your doc about going down to a lower dose to see if you feel the same w/o WD cuz less really is more with the Sub. And, the lower the dose, the easier it is to get off if you are planning that route.

Hang in there everyone, I wish you all the best!

I was on Subutex for one week. Doc switched me to Suboxone on Monday.  I have had no desire whatsoever for a pain pill and I even have 3 vics left. I am on 8 mg 1/2 in morning and 1/2 in afternoon.  Been a little tough for me since the switch because I used to get a little "euphoria" from the Subutex. Now that I am on the Suboxone I don't get that, but i still feel ok.  My doc said they will help me with the pain but I have been u p every 2 hours each night crying with pain.  In my own experience they do not help with the pain.  Maybe different for others.  My doc also strays from the recommended amount.  When he gave me the Suboxone he said the insurance companies like to see "take one tablet once a day". That is what the bottle says but he told me to take 1/2 morn and 1/2 halve evening.

Actually, from my undestanding, from a legal standpoint, any Dr who can prescribe narcotics can prescribed SUB for pain. He/she must clearly put this on the label "take 1 pill 2 times daily for pain," for example. But, the Dr does run the risk of the DEA feds asking questions.  And of course there are several ways to get the DEA waiver anyway. As I understand it, its real easy. One 8 hour course, being involved in research regarding Sub, and a couple of other ways, like going to approved conferences, etc.

I have read that for some it works for pain and others say it does nothing at all. So we will see.

Godspeed to recovery for all

I don't think they actually precribe Sub. for pain, but it does help alittle.
Thats great if you can level out at 2-4 mgs. Much better to taper from there.
