Thank you, Yes by the way it was two different doctors who "under the table" suggested switching to a shorter term lasting opiod before switching to bupes because methadone stays with you 4 weeks, some cases longer. This is why some poor folks who try too soon get thrown into instant withdrawl. Which feels worse than just regular cold turkey. And yes I've tried that about a dozen times over a decade. But I'm older now and sick and tired and well just grew up somehow. So I really am trying to find out. What is a good legal alternate opiod to take 'shorter acting than methadone' for 4 weeks so then I can switch to bupernorphine or subutex the way it was designed. And MUCH less pain and won't have to hide in a detox & rehab and start life all over again for the 3rd time. I've build a good life a haven't used anything but the done for 2 years or more now. And am ready to leave that HELL hole program prison behind!!! People there are burnt out nasty and users and that's just speaking about the staff ! So what would be a good alternate? A shorter term opiod while I let metha leave my body???? And what type of doc do you think would help me ? pain management?, or bupe authorized doc? Thanks again. I hope I'm posting this in the right section? paddy
Hi - I dont have any knowledge of methadone except from people Ive met who are on it, but reading your post I would suggest not going to illegal opes or oxy and going to see an addiction doctor - perhaps a suboxone doctor and get the advice from there. From what I understand you have to be off methadone for about 4 or 5 days beofre you can start suboxone but that might be different if you start subutex first then switch to suboxone. You definitely have to do this with a doctor though. IF suboxone is the way to go for you then you must speak with a knowledgable doctor who will give you all the right information you need concernign suboxone. The good the bad and the ugly. If you click on forums up top and go to the expert section there is a new forum here addiction experts. there is a doctor there who can probably answer your question. Best of luck. Methdone from what i undersand is a very hard drug to come off of and I commend you for wanting to. There are people here who have come off it without suboxone and if that is something youcan do I would suggest it as suboxone can come with its own dangers. Best advice-- get as muck knowledge you can regarding it - knowledge is power and keep the faith! Best of luck to you.
