Desperate for Help

I am desperate. My mother lives in Florida she takes Morphine as well as other pain meds. Her Morphine was stolen. She is on Medicaid and states away from me. She took 5 pills a day. I do not know what I can do I am extremely worried I have searched the internet hoping to find something that can help, only to find myself even more desperate she has several SEVERAL medical conditions and based off off what I have bee reading withdrawl or detox can be extremely dangerous not to mention the huge amounts of pain she is in. I am so lost, scared, I don;t know what to do my mother is calling me crying she is treating my sister extremely badly. Is there nothing that can be done. She is on Medicaid and says that she can not be hospitalized. Please someone help us I am terrified.

Sorry if this is the wron area to post this I just don't know what else to do.

Thank you for your comments. I told her to go to the ER when things start getting really bad. She doesn't believe it was my sister, however she is the only one there so I suppose she will take the brunt of this. I was extremely desperate last night and felt no hope I think I let their fear, pain get to me I am somewhat optimistic now. I left a message for her Dr. who is not in until Monday and told her and my sister that if things get worse to go to the ER I just don't want her to go till the last moment because I am worried that once she is released she will have no options She will get her refill next Fri but that is so far away for someone used to taking 150 mg a day now taking nothing but Percocet (sp). Thank you very much for your kind words.

you might try the ER... if her doctor will not refill her script..I know my pain doctor will not give you an early script regardless of what happened...but if she has went to this doctor for awhile and he knows her if might be different...if not I would take her to the ER., they might not give her morphine but something else to help with the pain until she can get her refill...So sorry to hear this happened...when we lived it Indiana and my front door was revolving, with son's friends and husband's friends, we keep my meds in the safe...you just can't trust anyone when narcotics are involved...do she think your sister took them?  take care and keep us informed...

i guess i would start by having her fill out a police report if she has not done so already and then call the prescribing doctor and explain what happened. There's a good chance she wont get a new RX, most doctors wont give a new one even in the event of theft because too many addicts have tried that already and DR's just cant give out more Rx's. I know when I was getting my pills, i was totally responsible for their safe keeping. If something happened to them- theft, thrown down the toilet, peed on by the dog, fell into a fire pit,. run over by a Mack Truck- whatEVER, it didnt matter, I would not be able to get my meds replaced until natural refill date came around. However it wouldnt hurt to try for your mother's sake espeically if she is elderly and has other serious medical conditions that may be complicated severely by WD's. How old is she and what kind of conditions does she have? GOod luck and keep us posted.
