NA Meetings

so ive been going to N/A meetings once a week for an oxy addiction, because i dont have time with work. and im 22 yrs old.. i dont know if its just me but i feel guilty going to these meetings. "alcohol is a drug" is one of the "sayings" they always use.. and i feel like the biggest hypocrite because well im there for oxy's and i go out sometimes on weekends with friends and have a few cold beers..i want to keep going to them it just pushes the conscience button everytime i go... so i was wondering what i should do??? because i sure don't

Alcohol is a drug, and for the NA program to work, we have to be completely abstinent of all mind altering substances.. that's what it says in the NA literature. I'm 24 and have been clean of all mind altering substances for 21 months now, so it can be done. For me, getting clean from Oxy was the most important thing, I was willing to do whatever it took to do that and drinking was just another thing I was going to have to change about my life if I wanted to be sober. Ask yourself, is it worth risking relapse on oxy just to have a few drinks? If the answer is yes, you might have a bigger problem with drinking then you think. If your answer is no, then you know what to do.

Tell them about your alcohol use and frequency of it. I hope your use of it is very minimal. They shoud help you work through this as well. Best of luck with your recovery.
