Does quitting Ultram cause w/d symptoms?

I am weaning off of suboxone, and into the 12th day.  I have severe restless nerve type pain ALL over my body, even fingers, so I've barely slept for all this time, and feel extremely ill and fatigued.  I would like to know if I take Ultram for these w/d symptoms, will I then have to go through w/d symptoms when I stop the Ultram - and if so, what are they like?  How safe or unsafe from a narcotic standpoint is Ultram?  - and is it actually considered a narcotic?  I've had a Dr. tell me no it is not a narcotic and a good replacement for pain control for other narcotics.  I don't want to jump from the pan to the fire if you know what I mean by using Ultram to alleviate my Suboxone (formerly methadone) symptoms.  Thanks, I would like knowing more about Ultram or another safer way to deal with the Suboxone w/d pain which has been pretty severe for me.

First I would strongly urge you NOT to take the Ultram to deal with suboxone withdrawal or any withdrawal for that matter.  Ultram has the same or worse wd as any other painkiller plus there are other more scary risks associated with using it and withdrawal from it.  As far as the sub goes - how long have you taken it?  How many mgs are you on?  How fast of a taper?  Some people do not suffer wd when tapering down on subs.  Most of us have had severe wd when jumping off completely.  I had wd when tapering AND when jumping.  I jumped off suboxone 40 days ago without any rx help.  I will say I learned the hard way that sub is very powerful, addictive and grabs hold tightly.  Its difficult to break free from and my withdrawal from it was like no other.  But I did it, and so can you.  It wont be easy.  Stay on this site, keep posting.  This site above all other things helped me get through sub wd.  I have heard that clonidine will help a lot with the wd.  Other people recommend valium-taken only for a short period of time, and with extreme caution.  And of course, highly recommended is the Thomas Recipe which you will find on the health pages to the right of your screen.  Best of luck to you, please keep us posted.

Not a good idea. Despite of the many claims of illiterate doctors, Ultram is a synthetic opioid and is the worst-take it from a former user, and many others here can sat the same-Its wd effects are very difficult to handle and considered by people that have use them and other painkillers, that Ultram is the most difficult to w/d and the more painful.
