Question about Tramadol

For those of you who took Tramadol/Ultam- It  doesn't produce a "high", correct? It is only because of the SSRI qualities that it becomes addicting- like it makes you happy but not in a euphoric way? I'm not considering taking those- I've read they are far worse to kick- but I was given a rx for them like 1 1/2 yrs ago. I never took em, but just realized my DH has been, thinking they were like extra strength tylenol!! Now the poor guy feels like ****, but refuses to believe he's w/ding because 1.) he didn't take em every day 2.) they "say"  non- narcotic and 3.) they couldn't possibly be "fun", or I (meaning me) would have taken em all in a week. That last one made me kinda happy he feels like ****. Jerk. But I am trying to make him understand that it has an SSRI quality, and that it binds to opioid receptors just like a "narcotic". Is that right?

I used to take Trams only when I couldn't get vics. They made me feel better only because they got rid of the tiredness and early withdrawal symptoms. I never got a "high" off of them. Just felt alot better generally and helped me make it thru the day.

I think the docs are just now realizing how addictive it is. I think it will probably be more controlled eventually/hopefully. I never would hve gotten addicted if I hadn't been able to buy it online.

yes, steer clear. I told my doc when I wasn't drinking for a year that I didn't want anything addictive. She gave me ultram/tramadol.
I got high off the first pill and later was up to 8 per day...I'm a depressive so the seratonin hit me hard. And the lack of when I got off.
It took weeks to wean down and then still horrible wd and I was down to 1/2 a pill per day.

YES tramadol produces a high for many people for me ,it was better then any other drug. For some it does nothing ,I highly suggest you steer clear of it .For those that get hooked it does not take much and they are very hard to come off of .

They bind to the MU receptor just like a narcotic...plus they also have the anti-depressent quality as well..so it is a double whammy to get off of them and the depression is more severe than with some narcotic WDs..I did not know u could get addicted by taking them every now and then tho...everyone is different and i do know they are tough to wd from after reading about them...i have taken them and never felt anything from them..not even pain relief so i quit taking them but without a problem...took 4 a day for a week or so...is a drug to be careful with for sure
