Hey Jen,
I just replied to your PM about the other thing.
As for continueing Sub, I would suggest getting down to a low maintenance dose of 2-4 mgs a day (2 mgs would be best), and stay at that until your ready to start to tapper to nothing. Stay on the Sub as long as you feel you need it.  You'll know when you're ready to come off it.
You're doing great!!!!

Hi Jen, I have been on sub since sept of last year. I have been a drug user for over 30 years, so i cannot afford to go back to that life. that is the reason that i am taking it very slow.  This year i stayed a 12 mgs, next year i will start tapering very slowly!  My doc says that it is recommended that you stay on at least one year if not two.  I am afraid of the withdrawals and i people have said that if you only stay on them for a short while they wont be that bad. the thing is i am not ready to go off of them yet, i am terrified of relapsing again.  I do however attend NA meeting and group therapy, and see my doc. once a month. this year has been a wonderful year.  The first time i have been clean, yeah i said it clean, whether some people like it or not.  I look at this as if i was a diabetic i would need my insulin.  well i am a drug addict and this keeps me well and functioning as the mother and wife that i am.  So take your time, girl.

First off, congrats to you for coming this far! It takes a tremendous amount of strength to get this far.

I am a big believer that the faster you get off of the sub the better. BUT, with that being said, make sure that time is right for you. If it is working, and you feel like you have your life back, then stay on it.
There is nothing wrong with staying on it if it is working for you. It sounds like you are also getting support and help from your doctor as well.

Try and find the lowest possible dose you can maintain, and talk to your doctor about sticking to that. I was on Sub for 6 months and have been off of it since Februaury. If you have any other questions, just let me know.

I agree with lonesome.  I had the same experience she did, wanted to stop as soon as possible but unlike her I DID relapse.  So I am back on suboxone and taking it very slow.  You have to get used to not taking pills, or whatever, every hour or however often you were doing it.  I believe the sub helps to take away the "habit" of using, if that makes any sense.

Good to hear your report. Keep up the good work. Sub has it's place and for you is a good option. I think Melissa has a good point. Staying clean is the goal.

Hi I'm on sub my self and I will say listen to your doctor as much I hate to say that lol, at the begining I was just like you I wanted to just stop using sub and I tapered off really fast and I got in trouble I didn't go back to using but I did feel like I wanted to.
Just be very careful and good luck

I don't know a lot about Sub, just what I've read on here but that sounds good. Just don't go too fast. Its worth being on Sub for a little longer if it means staying clean for good.

Good luck!
