FOR PREGNANT WOMEN USING OPIATES:PLEASE READ

I am writing this because its so common here and I would be thrilled for all with knowledge to add so moms(pregnant)will have knowledge about quitting as well as what the protocol is with doctors etc).There r2questions asked all the time.
1.To quit while pregnant.NO DONT GO COLD TURKEY VERY DANGEROUS FOR THE BABY.
2.Worried if u r honest with the obgyn u will get ur baby taken away.THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
Regaurdless of what ur taking,if u r getting it legally or illegally,how far along u r etc.Go to ur doctor tell them the truth.U will get an amazing plan fir what to do,u WILL NOT get ur child taken away if u do this.On the contrary u will get help,support,understanding because this is so much more common than u think and doctors have heard it all.IF u LIE(by not being honest and admitting this to ur doctor ao they can take precautions2make sure u and most important the baby r safe then u will b in trouble).There r a ton of tiny reasons they will test u/the baby after birth.Anything u yake after the5th month of pregnancy can easily show up in the babies1st bowel movement.If ur not honest u risk losing ur child.If ur honest ur baby will be with u.U will see a social worker who will make sure u have a plan&support system in place.A lot of states automatically test the baby regaurdless.Being honest is so important.SCARY but important.Ur dr will decide if u need a taper@the eand of pregnancy,now,continue on the meds(depending on what ur taking and weighing the risks etc,methadone,sub treatment etc).I will tell u from my own experience and what a social worker told me and the nurse who was awesome also said.I was prescribed lortab through my pregnancy.I was tapered off at the end of my pregnancy(they decided for me what I was taking was safer and easier as far as w/d for my little one and I agreed.Anyway I was told after24-36hrs after he was born by the night nurse(not very helpful or at all kind)that they found spmething n his system like meth(I freaked Ive mever done crystal meth,i was lost and confused&the great nurse was not there for many hours)all this lady said was it could b adderall(never took)I told her that.She couldve easily eased my mind w/a kinute of looking at my chart but didnt care(always1of those n the batch but they r usually nurses r awesome).Come to find out after no sleep that night,pure panic,confusion etc.The dcf(department if children/families)came n so nice.She said "oh u took claritin D thats what it was".Because at the time I intended to take xanax,lortab etc after I went home and had a script for the meds@the pharmacy from my original prescribing doctor who put my med care on the obgyn during pregnancy so she asked if I had support which I had my husband,mom etc.BUT I did ask them about kids getting taken away.The nusre said ONLY1time did she see a child taken away,not at least placed w/a family member and that was a crack addict,never got any prenatal care,smoking dope went into labor,was a prostitute with NO FAMILY.She said the woman didnt care much either.THEY WANT U TO TAKE UR CHILD HOME.They will help but u have to give them the chance.PLEASE DO THAT.SPEAK WITH UR DOCTOR.HONESTY.
IF ANYONE HAS STUFF TO ADD PLEASE DO SO.I want this to pop up on internet seaches for women who r panicked etc.I hope this helps.

First IT WAS CLARITIN D(thanx for reiterating that,love).U all r wonderful,hilarious and just plain awesome.I just wanted to share that I was100%honest and had the most randomly odd scare of my life there.HONESTY IN GENERAL IS THE BEST POLICY

I think she said it was claritan that caused that test result.  

Overopiates, thanks for sharing!  Honesty is always the best policy when it comes to this.  It's the same for many of us not pregnant.  We are afraid of judgement from friends, family and Dr's and it most always comes out the exact opposite!  They are happy we are doing something about it and usually they suspect that there was something wrong anyways.  Anyone trying to quit, don't be afraid of what others think!  Like, oh she is an addict.  Yeah I am.  But I am not in active addiction anymore.  I took control of my disease and am doing something about it.  It's better to be a recovering addict than a dead one.

That was great info girl....After the 5th month???And I did not catch what you were taking to cause it to come out like meth, crank/adderall..My reading is getting better its that brain thing you know balancing back..
