I nderstand where you are coming with as far as narcotics go but for some of us, they give us a little bit of our life back. I was to the point I couldnt think for more than about an hour a day. So instead of giving up and trying for disability I worked with my doc and found meds that worked. I take cymbalta, tramadol, oxycontin and vicodin. Now I can get through a 6 hour work day and sometimes do one or 2 thinks at home before I am too painful to function. I am not a smoker or a drinker and I dont do recreational drugs. I am an RN and I do know that people have a hard time even healing if they are in pain. Just a thought.
I do medical transcription and have for the last 10 yrs. I too have fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines, etc. I would NOT take any of the medications you are taking. I have seen too many times first-hand the way these medications can take over lives and cause too many side effects to be helpful. I deal with my pain mostly with a minimum amount of Tylenol products, exercise and diet. I do take Imitrex for migraines occasionally, but that is non-habit-forming and definitely not a narcotic or any type of addictive medication. The best thing you can do is find a doctor who will wean you off of those hard core meds & get back to basics. Most of the time, narcotics are way over-prescribed and cause much more trouble than help. People really should not take the types of meds you are taking unless they are fighting a life-threatening illness. Also, I've seen from typing these reports just how much of a snowball effect back surgeries can have on a person and the problems these things, especially narcotics can lead to. Taking narcotics just causes a vicious cycle in a human being's body that really usually leads to more pain and more need for the pain meds. Do yourself a favor and try another route. Depending on how long you've been on the meds, it may be a hard road to take, but eventually it will pay off. Also, if you are a smoker, that could be a big contribution to your problems.
Wow! That's usually not a big deal! Many people see more than one doctor in the course of a month and sometimes pain med is involved. Good thing you didn't have a root canal treatment that month,as well!
I don't know if you're red flagged there or not. You're probably being watched at the very least but there's no reason to go anywhere else; that makes you look guilty!
Because about a year ago I had a script of 5mg oxycodone from my GYN, and on the 29th day I submitted a script from my PCP for 5mg oxycodone (20 pills), as well as my lexapro. The pharmacist said I was doc shopping (I was not, it was my annual GYN appt) and my PCP treats me for my FM. So I assumed I was red flagged b/c my doctors both told me that rite aid called them! My gyn passed away, so my appt next week is with a new doc to me.
Hi- Why would you be red flagged at the pharmacy? If it's been a month, that's usually fine to get a new rx filled. Why a new doctor? If you're known at that pharmacy as a drug seeker, they might just tell the new doctor and their within their rights to do that.
