Getting off 9mg methadone not methadone

It's liquid methadone. I went off cold turkey 3 years ago and it was he'll but i made it. I feel into deep depression and no doctor would prescribe me any antidepressants that would work. So i feel back into the groove. I went off at 8mg of liquid methadone and it was hell. I'm now at 8mg and about to be kicked down two a day and um freaking out. I have a full time job and I'm in school. This could ruine everything good i have going for me. Has anyone ever dropped that fast from 8mg? Will it be a month of purchase he'll like 90mg cold turkey and then years of depression after that? I want off it so bad but freaking out now. This Tuesday is the day.

Hi there! I don't have any personal experience with Methadone, but there are a lot on here that do. The thing about Methadone is that it has a really long half life and is stored in fat and tissues of the body. It takes a lot longer to fully detox and get it out of your system than say Vicodin. I'm sure the detox will be unpleasant, but I would imagine it won't be anything like jumping off at 90 mgs. That's a crazy high dose to jump from! Try not to fret and psyche yourself out too much as it will just make your withdrawal symptoms worse. Hang in there and keep posting. There's lots of great advice, encouragement, and support on this forum. It's slow right now, but hopefully someone with personal experience will be along soon. Good luck to you!
