My most recent battle is with oxycontin for the last month were I was taking 150mg a day and was afraid to sleep in the fear I wouldnt wake up. I need some advice on getting off this ****. Im down to 40mg today and plan to go to to 20 on tuesday and wed. 10mg thu and friday 5mg sat - mon and then all the pills are gone. What should i expect? Will i have those awfull cold turkey withdrawl symptoms like I have had in the past? will taking a little tramadol help me with the W/D sytoms?

Good Luck to you! Keep us posted. I am also weaning off OC's been on 40 for 10 days, now 35 for 10-14 days, then 30, etc. I am doing a slower wean program. I’m anxious to get off of them, and envy your determination. Hang in there..

I think you will most definately have w/d and perhaps it won't be so awful bad, but you need to arm yourself with the staples(immodium, otc pain meds for rls and muscle aches gatoraide or juices, viatamins)  The Thomas Recipe is in the Health Pages so you might look there for some ideas.  Do not take the tramadol, it will put you right back where you don't want to be!  If you can get rid of the prescription meds, or have someone hold them.  Best wishes on your quit.  I think that the way it sounds like you may need to just go ahead and jump when you finish the pills, perhaps sooner, but I guess you are waiting for the next weekend.  So whatever works fo you.
