Just found out I'm about three weeks pregnant

I am so terrified I am an addict currently taking 3-4 30 mg oxycodone a day, I have also been on Xanax or klonopin for almost two months which I read everywhere is a huge no no but I'm terrified of stopping anything cold turkey hurting child or having seizures. I haven't had my first appointment but I plan to ask how to get off everything right away and I cannot do the suboxone or methadone program because I was on subutex for six months a year ago and the withdrawals sent me to the ER six times and I ended up back on oxycodone to avoid withdrawal from them again. I tried doing a short taper last month on suboxone again and ended up having too bad of withdrawals and couldn't fathom them so I got back on again. I don't know what options I have I am also a smoker I would do anything to clean my entire system and not have any harm to the fetus please help

No, you are in control.  Tell your doctor you would like a safe taper plan.  Please let us know how you make out at the doctor.  You will feel so much better after you are honest with him/her.

Thank you so much for all the overwhelming support! I am so scared. My appointment with my doctor is tomorrow because i only took an at home so she needs to confirm with blood work. My biggest fear is them pushing suboxone on me when I want to be off everything throughout the pregnancy! Has anyone had experience with the doctor helping someone wein off instead of continuing to get it illegally and not being able to manage my own taper?

Please get yourself to your OB and be completely honest.  They will help you taper off these meds and will be able to monitor you and baby.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. Even if it was unexpected, what a great reason to get clean for good!

Because you've only been on Benzo's consistently for two months, your seizure risk is most likely not what it would be for those using them long-term.

I got off Oxy several years ago when I unexpectedly got pregnant. The most important thing is to tell your doctor EVERYTHING. Even if you aren't getting the oxycodone legally, tell him or her so that they can help you and your baby. I've seen the misery newborns go through firsthand when they are born physically dependent on opiates. It's so tragic. The good news is that you are early in your pregnancy and you are recognizing this as a problem early on.

Please, please, please make an appointment with your ob/gyn ASAP and open up to him or her. They will understand and work with you to minimize the risk to your baby, and you'll feel so much better doing so!

Definitely get into the doctor ASAP, I work with pregnant women at my old rehab clinic, and though opiates are addictive to the fetus, and can be dangerous in large quantities, they will not cause birth defects, etc. Xanax and other benzos are much less safe to take while pregnant, but are also dangerous to come off of cold turkey, so please get into a dr. ASAP! The doctors will understand, so like mary said, don't be afraid to tell them everything. And I would definitely not recommend a methadone program, methadone puts newborns in the NICU for months.

Get an appointment with your obstetrician ASAP and tell them everything.  Don't be afraid to tell them everything.  They've heard it all before and then some.  They will tell you what is safest for your baby and you.  Do not cold turkey as it can cause a miscarriage.
